My dd is 11 which would be better for him.

I have no clue about these games.

My dh says nintendo switch is more child friendly but there's games on the ps4 as well for children. They can take the switch out as it's portable and don't have to plug into your tv so may be better.

What do most of his friends have? If he wants to play online against them, he needs the same console.

Does he want to use it as a handheld, and play on the bus / train etc? If so, he needs a Switch. The PS4 is not portable.

Otherwise, he should look at the games available for each, and choose which appeal to him most. Some games, such as Fifa, are on both, but the Switch version is not as good, as the PS4 is more powerful. Also, some games which are on both are more expensive on Switch.

Personally I prefer the Switch.

My son has access to both, prefers the switch though

gamerchick · 04/09/2019 22:15

Having both I would say playstation because the switch is so fragile.

If you want portable when the switch but for a kid that young get a playstation. Unless you can afford the repair bills to the controllers.

And the games for the switch can be a bit eye watering considering they're the tiniest things you can lose Grin

My same age DS prefers play station. More games plus can play online with friends.

AmIThough · 04/09/2019 22:21

I'd say PlayStation

chickenyhead · 04/09/2019 22:23

Mine have both and the switch is hardly ever touched.

MT2017 · 04/09/2019 22:24

PlayStation 👍

Playstation all the way, the switch is good but in terms of number of games and people that play it a PlayStation 4 wins hands down

My sister's are 10 and 12 - they are ALWAYS on their playstations with their friends.

I have watched my children (6 & 7) play on my friend's switch and I'm glad we decided against one.

We have a playstation for DH (4yrs old and still perfect) and an xbox one (3 years old), DS7 prefers the xbox.

I think the variety of games on a console is much better than on a switch.

Playstation(PS4) more games and more options.
Blue Ray/CD Player
Lots of Apps including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Now TV, ALL 4, BBCi Player.

Playstation network allows friends to play online and message each other...my grandsons do this on my PS4.
My eldest grandson got the Nintendo switch early 2018 for his birthday and by the end of the year he had sold it and got a PS4.
