School uniform

Hi all
So I have 4 DC. One going into year 2 one going into reception. Both boys. Uniform luckily has been handed down in good condition from dc1 to 2 and have not needed to buy too much apart from school shoes. Im quite good with money and never really pay high prices unless no choice.

Now my other 2 DC are girls and the boys uniform won't be the right fitting for them and will probably be no good by the time they go to school eldest DD starts not next summer but summer after. And dd2 in 4 years. Now would it be bonkers to start buying uniform in the sales now for them. They are both spring babies so will fit in the same clothing at the right times of years but 2 years apart... If that makes sense...?

So should I start buying uniform for ages 4 to 5 now for when dd1 starts school in the sales now? And keep them. she is identical to her eldest brother so can guess what size she will be. She's quite tallm whereas dd2 is identical to her second brother who is quite small.

I'm thinking if I buy a mix of stuff as and when I see it in a sale it would be worth it in the long run? Or do you think this is a silly idea?

No chance of uniform changing or changing schools. they all wear grey and blue and white summer dresses in this area anyway.

This is the most boring aibu ever. But saw a big sale and thought should I bother now...?

If you have somewhere to store them until needed, then I would

Iwantacampervan · 02/09/2019 11:20

I would if you have room to store it and it's very cheap. At the end of one summer M&S were selling off their dresses for 50p each - I bought a few in different sizes.

Moomin8 · 02/09/2019 11:24

Yeah, I've done this before.

Uniformuniformuniform · 02/09/2019 11:29

Ah excellent there's a good sale on summer dresses for £1.00 each so I though stock up now?

Yes I have a wardrobe just for uniform. Would you ever do this with shoes? Buy the next size up if you see them dirt cheap or is that just a risk due to growing feet?

Yes I would, I normally buy all my DCs clothes in the sales, I have a box in my store room where I store them until they fit and if they don't get round to wearing them or they don't fit I will gift them to family and friends or sell them on Facebook selling page so it's a win win, i like your thinking OP If you have the room Go for it. X

Also yes OP my DS is size 8 and I already have size 9, 10 and 11 in shoes and trainers ready for him 😂 I can't help myself when there's a sale on, I would get a couple of different sizes though if they are for school shoes

Uniformuniformuniform · 02/09/2019 11:36

Perfect will start when they are at school and I can go shopping or online.

I used to do this
I swear one of mine used to eat shoes and jumpers
I’d buy a few pairs/spares and store them under the stairs for when he came home with ‘muuummm!’
And if they didn’t fit him I had others to pass them onto
