Apologies to anyone suffering from deja vu on the clothing thread I inadvertently posted on before. My little finger has developed a vertical dent a couple of millimeters deep running from the nail bed to the tip. Originally I thought I'd just knocked the nail bed but it's been ages now. I can't see anything on Dr Google - horizontal, yes but not vertical. Really don't want to take a Drs appt up but am starting to get a bit concerned that it's symptomatic of something unpleasant 🤪

I gotta see a pic of this freakiness!! 🤪

Could it be nail psoriasis? Much more likely if you have skin psoriasis but not unheard of without.

Gamorasgran · 02/09/2019 09:12

Definitely a dent not a ridge? I have vertical ridges and it's either low iron, manky thyroid or age (I have all 3...)

They were one of the reasons the gp tested my thyroid in the first place

Thanks all - don't know if this helps 🤢

No psoriasis on my skin - will investigate nail psoriasis

Are you sure you've not knocked it? I'd see my GP.

I have a vertical ridge that runs through one of my toe nails where I knocked it as a child, it’s grown that way ever since.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 02/09/2019 20:28

That's so strange! Doesn't (in my inexpert opinion) look like psoriasis. Looks as if you might have injured it ages ago, lower down the nail bed. I had something similar when I was nipped by a dog on the finger.

Hellofromtheotterslide · 02/09/2019 22:21

Thank you all! I really don't remember knocking it (I'm assuming it would have to have been a fair old whack to generate this) but maybe I did (or maybe the cat was tap dancing on it whilst I slept 😬). Will mention it to the Dr when I next go.
