I’m new on this site so bare with me but I’m fuming. I have twins and one is due to start at a grammar in sep and the other at a local academy. The two schools have recently merged to form an education trust and the head was involved in a tv show where they constantly highlighted the diversity of the grammar and how it represents the local community, particularly stressing the amount of children from low income households and those on pupil premium. Since the merger there have been new uniforms for the schools but, despite stressing the amount of low income households they serve, the new executive head has decided to supply the uniforms from different shops.
This would be fine but the price of the grammar school uniform is so expensive compared to the comp.
for example; 4 blouses, 2 jumpers, blazer, 2 skirts and pe kit costs £127 pounds from the comp but it’s actually closer to around £90 as you can buy supermarket blouses and jumpers.
However from the grammar, which doesn’t allow buying from supermarkets, and has special designs to stop this, the total reaches £360 for the same items!
I’m shocked as both schools are situated in an area with very low income households and this seems to leave out poorer kids from attending despite them making up much of the school!
Dd doesn’t want me to complain as she doesn’t want to get of to a bad start but I think it’s ridiculous as they are joint schools, anyone know what I should do?
