Am I being unreasonable to want to ban everything gendered? (Kind of light-hearted!)

I was shopping this afternoon and I wanted to see if the shop I was in had any deals on deodorant. Off I went with the shop assistant after I asked him where the deodorant aisle was located, he then showed me the aisle before saying: "Oh sorry! Wrong aisle." and ushered me to the next one. I wanted to scream right there and then! Why, just because of my sex, does society think I should buy and wear certain products as well as condition everybody to behave and think in such an outdated manner? It makes no logical sense to me whatsoever.

I don't want to always smell like I work in a sickly sweet fruit shop! There is no wonder why bees and wasps find me so damn attractive. 🤣

What isn't logical is thinking one product will suit m/f

My 53 yo menopausal armpits are nothing like my 19yo sons .

My face skin is nothing like my DHs

I cannot think why being sent to the 'wrong' aisle would make you want to scream at the shop worker and I'd have stepped away carefully from you ( actually fuck that , I'd have legged it )

In some ways I don't disagree. I'm kind of jealous that men get stronger deodorants and better razers. Women can get underarm sweat stains too and we don't always need some weak/sensitive/floral concoction. We need what works.

ThreeGreenHippos · 01/09/2019 00:45

Why would you assume that I wanted to specifically scream at the shop assistant? I'd never disrespect anybody like that.

Men and women smell very different, my dps.deodorant isn't effective on me. And vice versa.......fwiw I use mitchum stick for women. It doesn't have a floral smell at all and the male and female version both smell very similar. It just.does what it needs to.do..

RainbowMum11 · 01/09/2019 00:54

Male & female people have certain physiological differences....

The wanting to scream right there and then bit ? After being ushered ?

I wouldn't have thought you were 'light hearted ' if you had a screaming episode at being offended by some outdated female deoderant . I'd have thought you'd lost it Big Time .
I am bloody sick of hearing about gender this and identify that .

I;m walking . !

You are allowed to use them too if you want to, you know Hmm

funmummy48 · 01/09/2019 12:58

I don’t want to smell of my husband’s deodorant but if I wanted to buy a “male” deodorant there’d be nothing to stop me. I can’t see the issue to be honest.

Ffs🙄

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 01/09/2019 13:09

If you wanted to buy a men’s deodorant or pack of razors why did you not ask where the isle was with the brand you wanted in?
