Posting here because so many more people seem to use aibu and I would love a variety of ideas :)

I am a 30 year old mother and wife but feel like I'm still dressing as if I'm early twenties (I don't mean overly revealing, just cheap tops, short shorts when it's hot, no particular style or sophistication).

Without going into too much detail I want to look:
30 something
Confident / like I can be taken seriously
Stylish
Not 'cute'
Taller without heels if possible!

Instead of looking:
Younger than I am
Short
Skinny (I like to emphasise my wide/round hips cos the rest of me is I feel unfeminine/too skinny)
Un-put-together

I plan to buy some key items from charity shops due to lack of money and the variety of styles they have. But what to buy?!

Thanks for any pointers you can give.

Look at a capsule wardrobe I've recently had the same problem was finding I had no idea where to start. I had tonnes of clothes but nothing really to wear.
There's loads of examples online and pintrest.

Bottom line is I now own 6 bottom pieces (skirts, jeans) 4 dresses and 16 tops including long sleeve, short sleeve, knitwear mostly plain neutral but one striped top and one pattern I picked floral and two tops in colours that compliment you. I wear a uniform in work so I only really need casual clothes with the odd smart thing for non uniformed training days.

Are you wanting to completely replace your wardrobe (casual, work, smart, formal) or just after a few key pieces for everyday wear?
