To think there's no suitable suncream for my son??

Hey, my son has the most sensitive skin and it's becoming a nightmare to find any suncream for him. All the high street ones bring him out in a rash and he just gets so sore. We're off on holiday in a couple of weeks and I'm panicking that he's going to burn if I don't find anything suitable soon.

My son had a sun allergy we use educating sun allergy, it's also fantastic for reactive skin (he's also allergic to lots of ingredients in chemical sun block).

Can buy it in Boots. Ladival for kids is our second choice.

BumbleNova · 30/08/2019 19:19

Sunsense is great. My DS has very sensitive skin but it's very gentle but effective.

Neolara · 30/08/2019 19:22

My dd reacts to lots of suncream. She is OK with Soltan kids sensitive factor 30. "In my experience, the higher the factor, the worse the reaction so we use factor 30 and never factor 50.

FuzzyPuffling · 30/08/2019 19:25

Another vote for MooGoo.

Treem · 30/08/2019 19:28

A friend recommended a suncream by aldi. Said she had tried everything and it was the only one that didnt cause a reaction.

cccameron · 30/08/2019 19:31

Might help if you told us which you'd tried.

I imagine La Roche Posay / Sunsense / Ultrasun would be your go to's

Cocoismydog · 30/08/2019 19:33

Altruist. Highly recommend. Buy from amazon.

Another vote for toddle! It works wonders for our pasty Irish skin and I love the fact that the packaging is made from sugarcane rather than plastic.

AuntieMarys · 30/08/2019 19:35

Altruist

SpanielPlusToddler · 30/08/2019 19:35

Have also used sunsense sensitive in the past, which didn’t cause any reaction, but we found it very sticky and white. Found the tropic I mentioned before easier to use.

Nautiloid · 30/08/2019 19:35

Sunsense is the only one that's worked for us.

karenbokaren · 30/08/2019 19:37

A lot of the ones mentioned here have some really nasty stuff in.

We use tru kid and burts bees on ds. He's allergic to pretty much all of the others.

ViaSacra · 30/08/2019 19:39

Are you sure that it’s suncream he’s allergic to, and not sunlight itself? Has your GP talked you through how to test for this?

Toadsrevisited · 30/08/2019 19:51

Lush do a lotion, a block and a powder that might work if it's chemicals he's reacting too uk.lush.com/products/sun-care

Blue5238 · 30/08/2019 19:52

Moo goo. I keep seeing ultrasun recommended on this thread but it is one of the worst for me

PaleBlueMoonlight · 30/08/2019 19:52

Ladival and Ultrasun were the only two that worked for us (Green People sadly wasn’t) and we have stuck with ultrasun for a few years now (mainly because it lasts 8 hours and therefore is good for school) however, we hasn’t factored in coral damage so am thinking that we need to start the search again. Any tips gratefully received.

KitNCaboodle · 30/08/2019 19:58

Another vote for Aldi here. We are in Florida and have used this all holiday. No burning whatsoever, our youngest doesn’t look like he’s even been on holiday! Our eldest can get heat rash but nothing this holiday. We have been super happy with it.

Likethebattle · 30/08/2019 20:01

Altruist is great we were told by my Dh’s dermatologist to get it. He has reactions to uv light. Also cheap as chips in Amazon.

Slaymill · 30/08/2019 20:02

This Badger sun cream has no nasties at all bit.ly/2MM2BOS
100% Natural 94% Organic

PaleBlueMoonlight · 30/08/2019 20:16

I am not sure that whether it is natural or not has any impact on whether it good for sensitive skin.

karenbokaren · 30/08/2019 20:20

Oh yes Badger works for ds too.

user1486131602 · 30/08/2019 20:24

My son had sensitive skin,
was born 12 weeks early, m6 daughter cant us Nivea products....dunno why?!
Anyway, the only one I found that they could use was copper tone baby spray spf50, get it from amazon. As it says you can spray it on, great with little ones!

RainbowCake · 30/08/2019 20:30

My son got prescribed uvistat as he had really bad eczema which flared up nastily with suncream. As soon as we realised it worked we just bought it, quite often on offer on the site www.uvistat.com/
Always make sure you have wipes or a flannel handy as it is thick, like sudocrem!

Lucked · 30/08/2019 20:31

We use ladival kids or piz buin allergy.

Use long sleeve and knee length sun safe swimwear limiting how much lotion you have to put on.

Make sure you are washing off all the sweat and lotion with soap (not body wash) at the end of the day. The dettol soap has been recommended on here.

Roughasabadgersbum · 30/08/2019 20:59

Child's farm all the way here.
It is quite expensive but it works wonders on my two children.
I also use the bubble bath, shampoo etc as well as the moisturiser.
I've found its absolutely amazing and smells divine!!
