This is my first post so please be kind :)

Earlier this year I was given a diagnosis for a personality disorder. I was not aware at the time that I was being diagnosed, and it was not what the appointment was supposed to be about.

However, everyone (mainly family) have explained this diagnosis to has then gone on to look it up to better understand it, and has gone back to me confused as I definitely do not meet the majority of the most important symptoms.

I have researched this disorder myself and I agree. I think I have been misdiagnosed, and I would like this diagnosis to be removed (if that's the right word?) From my medical records as it is now impacting upon my ability to access other services and receive help for the problems I do actually suffer.

Does anyone know how I go about this?

Do I need to go back and see another psychologist/psychiatrist who can re-evaluate the first diagnosis?

Yes, I think you need to see another psychologist to reevaluate the diagnosis.

A psychologist once told me part of her job was over turning, (that's probably the wrong word for it). autism diagnoses for people who want to join the army or police and believe the were misdiagnosed as a child.

Many years ago exactly the same thing happened to me.

Eventually I went to a different psychiatrist who told me that the diagnosis had been wrong.

It's worth doing OP. I hope you get it sorted out.
