I know I ABU but isn't it awful to hear someone coughing all the time?

Both DD's have dry coughs and they seem to be very good at coughing loudly...ostentatiously. It's making me SO irritable. I don't show it of course but the noise! The grating sound!

Ha - DS had a dry cough earlier this year that made him sound like an asthmatic frog (he is neither). It was awful - you are a better person than me if you aren't showing your irritability.

NoTheresa · 29/08/2019 15:00

Yep. It makes me want to scream.

MargoLovebutter · 29/08/2019 15:02

Yes your BU, but I completely agree with you and realise this makes me U as well!

I fucking hate winter with all those sniffers, raspers, hackers and phlegm frog throats. AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH! I literally want to send them all to the same room and leave them to it.

Asta19 · 29/08/2019 15:06

The guy who lives next door hawks up phlegm all the time! It’s bloody disgusting. And when I say all the time I mean several times an hour, summer and winter! I have to shut my back door if I’m eating as it makes me feel sick.

Cherrysoup · 29/08/2019 15:07

I have a hacking cough, it’s keeping me up. I’m downing lots of cough syrup, which is making my urine smell very odd! Just thought I’d scare. It’s very uncomfortable, as I have to keep sitting up to cough and I sound like I have a mosquito in my throat making a horrible little whine when I breathe. Luckily, my dh is on nights.

YANBU OP.

The sound of someone coughing drives me demented. I once endured a red-eye flight from SF to Heathrow with a coughing, hacking monster who did not shut up for the entire flight.

I now realize that I am deep down a patient and compassionate person, because I barely managed to resist the urge to yeet her out the bloody plane.

YANBU

I have asthma and literally get on my own nerves!

Dry coughs can be helped by Robitussin but do check, it has many contraindications.

lmusic87 · 29/08/2019 15:12

Yes, I really can't stand it.

BoxOfBabyCheeses · 29/08/2019 15:20

Hi OP, between me and DS my poor DH has to hear coughing for 4-6 months of the year. I have found that humidifiers at bed time make a massive difference! It might be worth giving it a try if you can borrow one to test it before splashing out?

HennyPennyHorror · 29/08/2019 15:25

Box thanks but we're in Australia...late winter here and it's damp. Our house (like many Aussie houses) is bloody cold too. It will ease up once the weather warms up.

DD isn't coughing but she currently has an issue with her nose and is sniffing A LOT.

It's been driving me potty. I know it's not her fault but thank God she now has some medication that seems to be helping.
You have my sympathies OP.

MerryBerryCheesecake · 29/08/2019 17:32

Due to a drug side effect from a drug that I'll be on till the day I did I cough until I piss myself, sometimes violently throw up, twice shit myself.

It's hell to live with but it's obviously so much worse for anyone just hearing it. I really must stop annoying people.

WWlOOlWW · 29/08/2019 18:35

I hate it to.

Unfortunately I've just started medication with a well known side effect if a hacking dry cough.. to the point that I throw up.

I want to stab myself in the eye!
