Yes - it's normal for Parliament to shut down for a week or so before a new Queen's Speech.
But not for this long.
MPs usually have September for the conference break. BUT MPs get to vote on this and to have the break of Parliament. The chances are very high that they would have voted to keep Parliament open rather than have the conference season. This would have given MPs plenty of time to discuss the issues and have a short break prior to the Queen's Speech.
Johnson is lying to us about this being normal. It's not normal.
There are plenty of protests taking place today and this weekend. Please come and join them.
