What did you and your siblings do to pester each other as kids/teens?? **Title edited by MNHQ**

Aibu to think it was character building and totally normal to pretty much torture each other, but if anyone else outside the family even tried to be horrible to you the gloves were off?

I have a few, the main one I remember is my older brother coming running down the stairs telling me I’d left the bathroom tap on and the upstairs bathroom was flooding, I went running up in a panic and it transpired he’s have done a gigantic smelly turd in there, slam the door and refuse to let me out until I’d ‘breathed it in’

I used to leave pins sunny side up outside my brothers bedroom, then taunt him into running out by calling him names.. he’s stand on them in bare feet 🦶

They also told me that black pepper corn tasted of chocolate, so I’d naively eat one- that burnt a lot!!

Also they would tell me how I was the brave one (youngest of 4) and I’m the only one who could sneak down the stairs at night to steam biscuits.. I’d be mid-way to the kitchen when they’d bang on the floor and shout ‘stampys out of bed mum!!!’

Anyone else got stories or were we just awful to each other??

Disclaimer: We did, and still do all get on really well, only we were allowed to do this to each other.. if anyone else dared we went incredibly protective 😂

No, never did anything remotely like this to my sibling, or them to me. It sounds thoroughly unpleasant!

riotlady · 28/08/2019 20:27

My sister was 8 years younger than me so we never really picked on each other. When she was getting annoying on car journeys though I used to tell her she had to look out the window and wait for “something magical to happen”. The second she looked away I’d tell her she missed it Grin

TroysMammy · 28/08/2019 20:29

I would chase my sister around the garden brandishing nettles screeching "smell my iceberg roses".

As a teen she had a drag on a cigarette in the village hang out. I never tried but every time she was going to grass me up to our DM for something minor, I would mimic smoking a fag behind our DM's back. She soon shut up because what I would have done wasn't half as bad as smoking.

melissasummerfield · 28/08/2019 20:30

My brothers used to sing the wrong words to songs on purpose, used to drive me crazy!!

Qwerty19 · 28/08/2019 20:33

Omg the things me and my bro did as kids/teens.
Even now we torture each other in our 30s and regularly Insult each other but we get on well generally ( only time we don't is when sil is being a pita)

Stampy84 · 28/08/2019 20:42

@FuzzyPuffling I figured there would be a few that lead a calm childhood!
I still wouldn’t change a thing! There’s a saying ‘nobody can make you feel rage like your siblings’
That being said, we absolutely had each other’s back, and still do! Two of my siblings are police officers, and the other is doing pretty well too! We didn’t turn out too bad 🙃

@Qwerty19 yep! We still torture each other now too!! Only a few years ago my brother chased me round with a used toilet brush.

I used to rub soap onto my brothers' toothbrush before putting the toothpaste on it 😂

Stampy84 · 28/08/2019 20:44

@TroysMammy ahhh the good old fashioned silencer! The joke of it is, we’d probably never tell on each other, but the threat was always there 👀

My sister and I used to deface each other’s posters on our walls, funny faces on our pop stars. We found it quite funny at the time, we can’t stand each other now.

dementedma · 28/08/2019 20:47

At a family get together recently, my little brother (the youngest of 5 of us) was a total pain, trying to put seaweed down my neck, and in my sisters’ hair. He is 51!!!
It never ends.

autumnboys · 28/08/2019 20:47

My SIL only has to raise an eyebrow at DH and he becomes incoherent with indignation. It’s very funny.

My sister and I used to have to clean up the cats’ accidents. We’d pick up poo in loo roll and instantly whoever wasn’t holding it would start ‘ooh, that’s poo that is, is it warm, give it a squish. How does it smell?’ Until the other one was gagging. Grin we were talking about it only recently.

QueenOfTheSandals · 28/08/2019 21:01

My brother was a complete arse to me growing up. I think I was fairly annoying to be fair. He is a very nice extremely chilled out man now and thankfully his earlier behaviour did not portend anything sinister. The following gives a flavour:
Tied me up half way up a tree and buggered off on his bike for afternoon.
Would tie me up and hoist me upside down, spin me and gently slap my face as I went round.
Chase me with a homemade flame thrower (aerosol can).

This sounds worse than I remember it!

cranstonmanor · 28/08/2019 21:03

The tickle of death! We were both really ticklish as children.

ferretygubbins · 28/08/2019 21:06

I used to regularly hang my older sister's cuddly toys from nooses around her room.

My ferret ate half of her guinea pig's face which did annoy her somewhat but this was not a deliberate act on my part

SomewhereInbetween1 · 28/08/2019 21:06

My brother and I have already had a really close relationship and even as kids, our torture was all in good fun and jest.

  • taking turns to slap each other on the inside of your forearm to see who could leave the best hand print.
  • taking turns giving each other dead legs until you end up doing that shrill panicky giggle.
  • turning each other's bedroom lights off at the most irritating of moments.
  • pouring cups of cold water over the top of the shower screen.

Lots more too, we had a great time 😁

'chinese burns' and 'mercy mercy' Wink

jent85 · 28/08/2019 21:10

My brother used to make me play "Stage Person" with him. Basically, I was the stage, lay on the floor on my stomach and he danced around on my back. 3 years younger and much less cooler than him, I was pathetically thankful he wanted to play with me I'd do it with no grumbles 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

aweedropofsancerre · 28/08/2019 21:10

I used to chase my sisters with a stick with poo on the end and I once got my sister to drink my wee and pretended it was juice. We are close and she is not traumatised by it and in truth she and my other sister did stuff to me too...

Stampy84 · 28/08/2019 21:14

Are we all starting to envy @FuzzyPuffling???

@dietstartstoday Mercy mercy!! I thought that was only us 🤣🤣🤣

Yes we tortured each other too.

My brother still does it. Just a few years ago he sneaked into my back room and covered my toilet seat in cling film. He’s now 30 and a charted h&s director earning a fortune and managing loads of people, but reverts to a child again when we’re all together.

My cousins too. My big cousin fell asleep drunk on my mums living room floor after w Christmas party about 5 years ago and I, also raging drunk, thought it would be a good idea to put a mars bar down the back of his boxers. I forgot all about it, he woke up the next morning and thought he’d shit himself and scarpered 😂 phoned me soon after half raging half laughing.

Yabadee · 28/08/2019 21:15

Bathroom not back room, obv

wannabebetter · 28/08/2019 21:15

My (much older) brother fed me Minced Miorsels dog food when babysitting when I was about 5 - then told me afterwards and I panicked that I was going to die!!!

Stampy84 · 28/08/2019 21:18

@aweedropofsancerre you’re an evil genius!
I think it’s from these sibling things that not a lot fazes me as an adult?!
