To hate it when people do this on threads?

When people post an AIBU, except that they're too scared that people will say they ABU... so they say person A and person B instead of say me and husband because then nobody will know which person they are.

Im probably being U for being annoyed at this but it just gets at me

OP posts:
BinkyBaa · 28/08/2019 16:00

I dont mind so much if it's a simple "A thinks this, B says this, who is right?," though I dont like it when people have a long backstory for A and B that gets very confusing with mixed abbreviations like A's DS and B's DP.

NoSauce · 28/08/2019 16:01

I hate person A, person B, person bloody C.

I have to keep reading the thread because I get them all mixed up Angry

AryaStarkWolf · 28/08/2019 16:02

I don't mine it but it's usually clear which one the OP is Grin

nononever · 28/08/2019 16:03

I find it more annoying when it's a whole string of DH, DS, DSS, DN, DD etc spun into a thread. Very confusing.

OwnerofanAngryCat · 28/08/2019 16:04

Not always, sometimes it's a double bluff.

BlueCornsihPixie · 28/08/2019 16:08

Normally it's something like

" person A, a stunning, intelligent person, calmly stated x"

Person B, an awful, annoying thicko barged into the room and screamed y"

Bit of backstory, not sure if it's relevant but A is a goddess and B is a lazy shit

Which one do you think is right?

I'm not sure but I'm getting an inkling the OP is A

familycourtq · 28/08/2019 16:13

YANBU Also any post which mentions a hobby or a child's name should be subject to immediate canning unless the hobby and name are specified.

cstaff · 28/08/2019 16:37

I prefer if they use fictional names - that is much easier to follow. A, B and C etc does my bloody head in and I usually give up half way through.

SachaStark · 28/08/2019 16:44

I check out the minute I see the letters A, B, C, etc. I’m not a cryptographer!

Equally though, my gears start to grind when the OP uses the phrase, “I’ve got a friend, let’s call her Margaret.”

Urgh, fuck off with your “Let’s” anything, you are not narrating a children’s TV show.

Tonnerre · 28/08/2019 16:45

It always amuses me when they put in made-up names, mainly because of the choice of names. I've never done it, but if I did I'd go for something dull and quick to type like John and Mary, but we get stuff like Norah, Abigail, Samantha etc. I'm just waiting for the one with Annunziata and Persephone.

RebeccaRae · 28/08/2019 16:53

I agree. It can get really confusing and it's normally really obvious who the poster is anyway!

AnAC12UCOinanOCG · 28/08/2019 18:50

I hate it, too. Just come out with it and admit which one you are!

There are posters who will always find a way to make the OP wrong but there are posters who always find a way to make the OP right, so it balances out.

Timeaftertime42 · 28/08/2019 19:02

I hate this too and always think "make stuff up!!" Instead of person A goes to a hobby group that person B runs. Just tell us that Jane attends a choir run by Phillip. So much easier to follow and IT DOESN'T BLOODY MATTER if you've changed a few details around.

Leeds2 · 28/08/2019 19:10

I much prefer names to letters. I don't usually read the ones with letters, as they annoy me that much.

I also hate it when someone "just asks a question out of interest." At least admit that you are in the same situation as the poster!

TheDarkPassenger · 28/08/2019 19:13

I don’t mind these. I think it’s better to get an honest answer as people enjoy jumping on OPs here.

I detest the ones that half way through mention ds meaning dear fucking sister so I’m imagining son or DP meaning dear parents. Piss off that’s not right!! Arghhhh

TheDarkPassenger · 28/08/2019 19:14

Or the worst DGM. And everyone’s like why’s your grandma stealing your boyfriend and they’re like ‘no it obviously means dear god motherHmm

TheDarkPassenger · 28/08/2019 19:15

And if she’s sucking your boyfriend off she’s not really ‘dear’ is she arggggghhhh

FiddlesticksAkimbo · 28/08/2019 19:16

they're too scared that people will say they ABU

I doubt that this is the reason. Why would anyone care whether 100 strangers on the internet know that a random made-up username is either person A or person B?

multiplemum3 · 28/08/2019 19:22

I saw a 'ddog' the other day, so fucking stupid lol.

Rachelover40 · 28/08/2019 19:22

Doesn't bother me, sometimes they are asking about others.

Buyitinbamboo · 28/08/2019 19:30

I don't mind it because people tend to be awful to the OP on AIBU for no apparent reason so they probably get a less bias view doing it that way

slipperywhensparticus · 28/08/2019 19:34

Some people have a "view" ie dad was shouting at daughter can elicit the view that dad is abusive especially if their dad was abusive mom shouts at daughter people might say.....your only seeing a snapshot my dd was a horrible bag of hormones at that age basically projecting their experience on to the thread putting it as a and b cuts that out to a degree

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/08/2019 19:35

‘I calmly stated’ is on of my most annoying phrases on here.

Ponoka7 · 28/08/2019 19:38

It used to be done so the responses wasn't influenced by the sex of the people involved.

Likewise MILs/SILs get a harder time than other people.

Mxyzptlk · 28/08/2019 19:40

Just tell us that Jane attends a choir run by Phillip.

Even that doesn't work. People can get hung up on the type of hobby and what it has to do with the problem. (Usually nothing)
