To tell you to claim PPI TODAY. Its the deadline and I just got 2k

TODAY is the deadline for PPI claims.

I received this from Cooperative bank yesterday for a credit card way back. It took less than 5 minutes on a phone while on holiday last week to claim. DO NOT pay anyone to do it - Resolver (from moneysavingexpert) is FREE..

Amongst others, anyone who was ever self employed should do this because PPI was NEVER going to pay you anything! (self-employed were never eligible).

You DON'T 'need' the card number, account number, or dates - your address and the address you lived at when you got the credit card/loan should be enough if genuine.

bump. I'm a longtime poster of various names - but I've put the same message on my social media so made a new name
(waves to anyone I know)

Does that mean no more annoying Gladstone Brooks adverts after tomorrow?
Woohoo!!

Publicpersonaofprivateposter · 28/08/2019 10:50

YES! Not sure what they pick as the next annoying thing. I never answer my home phone now

My DH was self employed a few years back and we managed to claim for 3 months whilst he was off work injured. I wish they hadn't paid out as we would have claimed lots more back in ppi.

IsobelRae23 · 28/08/2019 11:00

I’ve had 3k in the past, and £500 at Christmas, sent off my last letter Saturday? Anything I get now is a bonus I say!

YouFellAsleeep · 28/08/2019 11:03

I had a credit card about 15 years ago, it was my first credit card and I didn’t really know much about it so agreed with whatever they told me. I don’t know any of the details though, so can I really put in a claim with such limited information?! I know which bank it was and my address at the time.

Oblomov19 · 28/08/2019 11:06

I've never claimed: I can't imagine I'd get much - i moved around too much as a student etc, so can't remember any addresses and never had much on a credit card.

GinDaddy · 28/08/2019 11:07

Good luck to anyone trying to access Resolver or any other sites - the traffic to them today will be insane, I don't know if their servers will be able to handle it.

Publicpersonaofprivateposter · 28/08/2019 11:09

@youfellasleep you only need the bank and the address!

The deadline is actually tomorrow my dd works for a company that does PPI claims and is working until midnight tomorrow.

Publicpersonaofprivateposter · 28/08/2019 11:25

Actually I just did one on the Santander website for a store card for House of Fraser in the late nineties.

Also less than five minutes and no delays or crashing sites

Thank you God for no more irritating as fuck adverts. For this I am truly thankful Grin

x2boys · 28/08/2019 11:30

What will happen to Gladstone Brooks ? I idly wonder this every time I see one of their adverts .

Publicpersonaofprivateposter · 28/08/2019 11:40

The irritating adverts are from companies trying to make money out of our stupidity. I know lots of people who had PPI and also lots that have unfortunately paid hundreds of £££ to companies to claim on their behalf. Both are stupid and taking advantage.

It takes literally five minutes and the onus is on the lender to look for your account for you.

If you had a store card, credit card or loan in the mid nineties onwards this five minutes is worth your time.

Don't forget the total you get includes the interest you would have earn't on that money if you had not lost it.

for me that is Around £660 in PPI payments
around £560 in interest I paid on that PPI payment as part of the loan
and a rebate of 1k for the 8% of the total of what i paid if it had accrued over the years since 2000

So I 'only' paid around £600 in PPI payments at the time

It also includes some late payment cahrges adn overlimit charges that could reasonably have been caused by the PPI payments (if I went over my limit because they too £11 a month for the PPI)

They have deducted £232 in tax from the total offer to me - which I may be able to claim back separately as a tax rebate depending on circumstances.

This is a lot of money we were hoodwinked out of

Woohoo!!

And fucking brown envelopes with red fucking "Urgent matter" on it!
Bastards nearly given me heart attack

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/08/2019 12:41

I considered doing this but it dont think it'd be worth it. I've never had a loan. No store cards and didnt get a credit card til 3 years ago. No finance of any kind or mortgage. All I had was a littlewoods account about 10 years ago and that never had more than £300 spent on it.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/08/2019 12:43

I tell a lie, I've got an Argos card but I only got that Jan 15.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/08/2019 13:04

Gladstone Brooks have stopped accepting new claims.

YouFellAsleeep · 28/08/2019 14:55

I tried earlier but was having trouble with the website. Just managed to submit it now! I definitely had PPI on credit card. I was told I needed it and I, naively, didn’t know any better. So will see what happens. I wasn’t going to bother since I didn’t know any details but worth a try!

Sciurus83 · 28/08/2019 15:34

I did the checks and had nothing! I'm so disappointed, all these people with lots of cash!

je4852 · 28/08/2019 15:37

Just done a claim on my old Woolwich mortgage via the Barclays site. Took about 15 mins to fill in form. Don't think I'll be due much but worth a try.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 28/08/2019 16:00

I live abroad now but have just sent an online claim in to Halifax as we had mortgages with them in the mid/late nineties.

Heck it's worth a shot!
