Potential faulty electric meter

Posting due to traffic.

Has anyone ever had any issues with their prepayment meter cutting off the power supply
To the whole house? Come home from work and we have no power at all. Dp friend is a sparky who’s come out to say the issue is with the box. Currently an hour and half into a 3 hour wait (was originally told within the hour) for British Gas to come out for an emergency appointment.

Has anyone had an issue like this before and did the supplier manage to fix it because I’m just contemplating ringing a out of hours electrician but I don’t know he will just tell us same thing we’ve been told already.

Anything else I can be doing?? Had no tea missed bloody bake off! Currently regretting ever taking electricity for granted! Might have to nip to my car to charge my phone soon!

Turns out dp and friend did not check to see if we needed to top up.

😂

An out of hours electrician won’t touch it. They meters are owned by the supplier. If they can’t fix it when they come out they’ll just change it and you’ll have a new one.

@Satinthedark111 this is gold😂
I did do something like this when I first encountered top up meter too. But I never called emergency, luckily.

Will they charge you for call out?

I don’t think so, I could have throttled dp!!
