Parking Space

AIBU - we were looking for a space in a long stay car park, in a very busy coastal town today. Saw one space and drove up to it only to find a lady with a dog standing in front of it. We asked the lady we want the space and her reply was “l am saving it for someone”(car not even in sight). My DH was not impressed and shouted out (in the car) that this is not acceptable and for her to turn round and shout out “Well, l’m not moving!” We had to drive off and eventually found a space a few minutes later. I should say, their were other cars driving around the car park and not just us. Car parking is a nightmare where we were trying to park as it gets full very busy so spaces are like a gold mine. I am still very annoyed but AIBU???

I still remember someone doing this to me in 2010. She said she needed the space because her mother had her PFB in the car that was about a mile behind me. I pointed out the baby plus 3 other DC in the back of my car and swore at her. I hope she's realised how fucking stupid she was being.

I am an arsey cow and would have inched back into the space and blocked it so she couldn't save it. She would have moved eventually...

NeatFreakMama · 27/08/2019 18:10

I'd have let it go, maybe she's saving it for a friend who can't walk well....you don't know the situation and it's just not worth the agro.

Likethebattle · 27/08/2019 18:11

I would do the same as @bluebecl and block the space so her husband can’t get in anyway.

Sparklingbrook · 27/08/2019 18:13

I would do the same as @NeatFreakMama, having an argument in a busy car park isn't going to add any fun to your day is it?

SchumackerRocks · 27/08/2019 18:15

@NeatFreakMama - space was not reserved for anyone elderly. We saw her and her friends who were around their 20s walking around town.

I would have driven forwards and sprayed windscreen wash and activated wipers...

GruciusMalfoy · 27/08/2019 18:19

She was a dick. I'd have liked to block the space.

HamsterHolder · 27/08/2019 18:19

Very annoying behaviour. Although I'd probably just responded as you did. I'd have considered letting their tyres down though!!

SchumackerRocks · 27/08/2019 18:20

I said to my DH after we shouldn’t have asked her to move but just start reversing into the space. It was the rudeness and her self entitled attitude that annoyed us. It was the only space on that side of the car park and if there wasn’t any more spaces we would have had to drive out of town to which is a good few minutes away to then get the park and ride.

@Windydaysuponus - now why didn’t l think of that 😂

@HamsterHolder - DH wanted to let his tyres down but l was worried if their was CCTV cameras around. Very tempted to have down this.

What a CF. I would have stayed put, she'd have to go eventually.

OP I was once driving around the one way system of a car park, spotted a space, did the old manoevre to reverse in and a CF car drove the wrong way and straight in. I was so mad, if I didn't think I would have got caught, I would've let the tyres down too 🤣
