It’s entirely possible that I am turning into a miserable old woman, but in the last two days I have been on the receiving end of some pretty blatant rudeness. What do you think? Am I being sensitive about this?
Spent the weekend with family. They have two kids (I have 3 of my own). SIL would ask me a question and then when I would attempt to answer it she would get distracted by one of her kids asking her for something or whinging or something. Either that or she was actually scanning the room looking at everyone else. She did this several times. My kids do this too but I tell them to wait until I have finished my conversation if it isn’t a life or death (or poo related) situation. The question she asked would go unanswered.
Then today, colleague asks me a question. I start to reply and an email comes up on his phone so he picks it up, reads it, starts replying and doesn’t even notice that I’ve stopped talking. He then kindly lets me know that he is off to the toilet.
I’m pretty sure that what I’m saying isn’t THAT boring and some people are just incredibly rude and even worse have such little self awareness that they don’t even know they are doing it 🙄 It grates because they are the ones asking me a question, it’s not like I’m forcing a load of boring information on them.
