To be panicking about mice?

I’ve been clearing out my wardrobe which doesn’t get used often and I’ve just found some mice droppings there Envy < not envy

I’m now panicking that me or DD are going to get Hantavirus as I’d been clearing out the clothes and picking her up in between before I saw the droppings

I’m all worried now and I feel really dirty Sad

Do not panic.

Hantavirus infection is very rare. Unless you have been in direct conttct with rodent urine, saliva or faeces it is unlikely you will have ill-effects.

A few mousetraps and some cheese will do the trick.

Then sanitize the areas where you have seen the mouse droppings.

I saw one in the early evening. All websites say for them to show during daylight must mean an infestation. I was terrified. A year later and it turns out it was only one. I disinfected everything and all fine.

Thanks all.

If I didn’t have 6 month old DD I’d be less worried.

We had them before but I thought they’d gone Sad

I’ve not actually seen any... just the droppings.

It’s a cheap fabric wardrobe so not sure how I’ll disinfect it.

I’m too scared to move it in case a mouse or rat runs out. I have a dog but she’s a bit shit and has a low prey drive.

Going to move it in a bit. Wish me luck

You need traps baited with fried chicken or peanut butter.

When I had those pinkies in my house that was the only bait they went for. Forgot the cheese - this ain’t Tom and Jerry lol those furry f*ckers have evolved Grin

Cover any holes with steel wool and try to keep any sorts of crumbs go a minimum and clean up abit more - although rodents don’t mean your dirty. My house is clean but I did just a little extra to make sure but there’s noting for them to stay in the house for. (Wiped the worktops with neat bleach every night, covered any open food in rodent proof containers so they couldn’t get into it and nibble my food, wipe te floor with neat bleach and peppermint as apparently they don’t like the smell - although not sure how effective the peppermint trick was)

Sweep droppings and try not to hoover them as you don’t want shitty spores floating around your home an breathing in rodent airGrin
