To ask if you had a period for 8 days then another 5 days later....

...when would you expect the next one to arrive?

I've had bloods done to see what my hormones are up to but no results yet or else they are normal as not heard anything.

I felt ropey yesterday and feel crap this afternoon with pain in my back and pelvis, feel queasy and very bloated so I could be due back on but I can't seem to predict it these days.

I'm 43.

Could it be perimenopause?
Have you had any other symptoms? Hot flushes, insomnia etc?

Maybe see your GP for advice?

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 27/08/2019 13:18

I saw the GP last week and she seemed unconvinced it was anything. My periods have definitely changed. Sometimes 8 days, 10 days, 5 days, 3 days. Pmt is worse and I feel grouchy a lot of the time. I'm always a bit sweaty but no hot flushes, just running a little hot these days. I'm slowly stopping bfing my ds so I do wonder if that's something to do with it but he's been on just one feed a day for a year so I'm not convinced.

God knows. I’ve had similar recently, but I think it was stress related to my dad’s death, along with stomach pains, massive coldsores and more period pains yesterday, but no blood.

Have you had your thyroids checked? I’m a year older than you . Went to gp back in February and she ran tests. My iron was low and my thyroid was overactive. I’m now on medication.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 27/08/2019 13:37

I had my thyroid checked recently too and was smack bang in the middle of normal. They won't do further thyroid tests unless the basic ones come back deranged. I'm always sweaty and have put on weight over the last year despite no changes to diet or exercise levels. Except I cycle now too but only once a week so nothing to make much difference.

They should scan you for fibroids.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 27/08/2019 19:20

I was scanned about a year ago and everything was ok. My mum had a hysterectomy for fibroids when she was 47. The GP did mention fibroids when I saw her.

Yes exactly like you & at your age too
Period for 10 days, 12 days off then it comes again. Maybe for 8 days this time then 2 weeks later, here we go again! Bit of spotting in between too. Had 2 ultrasounds but mainly put it down to hormones & looking back now it was the peri menopause. Friends experiencing the same as me, some with horrendous flooding. One story I used to hang onto was a colleague who told me about her flooding at the Drs. They called her name, she stood up & filled her shoe! She held the record for a 16 week period! Honestly, I worried myself sick but it’s your body changing. Of course get yourself checked out tho but I’ll bet you’ll be fine x good luck. After years of periods every fortnight I haven’t had one for 10 months - I’m 48 BTW XX

I've got another GP appointment today with my regular GP who knows me well. I'm feeling pretty rough and miserable with constant pain and my usual painkillers aren't cutting it. I'm convinced I have levator ani syndrome as I know my pelvic floor is in spasm and my back and left butt cheek really ache and down my hip too. It's a damn shame I can't take NSAIDs as they are really good drugs!
