To keep DD's off school for coughs?

Bit of background...DD2 was sick on Friday...threw up repeatedly. Kept her quiet for the weekend but she'd already developed a nasty cough before Friday.

She's coughed all weekend and had on and off temp. She's 11...she's been up every night coughing and so is very tired with pulled muscles from the cough.

DD1's cough developed earlier than DD2s...she's 14...she's got the worst of the two and has been hacking and spluttering all night.

Kept her off too.

WIBU? Is it too much to give a day off for this? I always second guess myself but went with days off because they're so bloody tired! Both are pale and not really their normal selves at all.

Cough is just a symptom. It sounds like she has an infection. Yanbu to keep her off with an infection.

Well the cough was part of a chest infection, which is why you kept them off. So no yanbu

I'd keep mine off with those symptoms.

Poor wee lambs. Hope they are better soon.

Oh thanks! I'm always worried that I'm too soft. Pathetic really but I can't trust myself to judge! DH is always "oh let them have a day off" so I over compensate and make them go in a lot when perhaps they shouldn't!

I just figured that the teachers won't appreciate them spluttering all over the classrooms!
