To ask anyone who knows Leeds

Which do you think is nicer for an overnight stay and spa: Oulton Park or Thorpe Park? Out in Leeds itself at night, so we won’t be eating there, but in terms of room and spa? They both look great online and I can’t choose! Or is there anywhere better that’s just a short taxi ride into town?

Thank you 😊

I've stayed at Thorpe many times and it is so lush, the food is amazing!! And the spa is so nice. Amazing breakfast.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 24/08/2019 17:06

I have to agree with Sparkles! Thorpe is great! Have fun up in our neck of the woods!

The3Ls · 24/08/2019 17:21

Live round the corner from both. Neither bad but I'd defo chose Thorpe Park. Food much nicer and spa newer. Plus getting into Leeds easier

Elmashbu · 24/08/2019 17:27

Thorpe park. Food is lovely.

MrsGrindah · 24/08/2019 17:31

Thorpe Park definitely and only a short taxi trip. But

euro23451277 · 24/08/2019 17:36

Do you mean Oulton Hall? It’s lovely there😍

Ilikethisone · 24/08/2019 17:37

I have worked in both.

I would say Oulton Hall.

euro23451277 · 24/08/2019 17:38

It is a lot further out though and would be quite pricey by taxi!

Ilikethisone · 24/08/2019 17:38

If you are looking for somewhere really nice I would say they are the best options

If you can do without the spa, the double tree by Hilton, right in town is nice

Ilikethisone · 24/08/2019 17:39

@euro23451277 it's about £11. I live in the next village along.

Town is quite quick to get to. If you ho through rothwell and then to the M621

TiredOldTable · 24/08/2019 17:40

If you std going out in town then neither, they are a good taxi ride and are both mediocre 4 star hotels

TiredOldTable · 24/08/2019 17:41

Rudding Park if you want spa.

euro23451277 · 24/08/2019 17:55

@Ilikethisone I just had a look on Uber and you are right! I live closer to town but the other side of Leeds and Uber is about £25 🙈 clearly doesn’t like my side of the city! Haha!

PillQuestioner · 24/08/2019 20:46

Thanks everyone, good to know they’re both nice! We’re going to a concert at the arena, but as I will be without husband and young children for one night only, I just really fancied treating myself to a nice room, swim and sauna etc. My friends are all crashing at the house of the one who lives locally, but I didn’t want to spend my one night away in a sleeping bag on the floor Grin.

I’ve been to Rudding Park and it is absolutely beautiful, but definitely too far in a taxi!

@euro23451277 different sides of leeds can be hugely different in taxis. Bonkers isnt it.

sparkles07 · 25/08/2019 13:43

Last time I stayed at Thorpe inside the loo on the a poser they were offering a great deal for the arena. It included pre concert dinner, hotel and taxi to the arena. Can't see it on their website but might be worth calling and asking if it's something they still do.

wink1970 · 25/08/2019 14:06

Hazel wood Castle! It’s amazing

TiredOldTable · 25/08/2019 14:08

About £20 in über and 20-30 minutes if at night?

Ilikethisone · 25/08/2019 14:34

Hazelwood castle and rudding park are far out of leeds. OP does want that far out.

Does hazelwood castle have a spa now?
