Hi ladies! I am 39+ 6 almost 40 weeks, still there is no any sign of labour no pain nothing. Just wanted to know any remedies to start the labour- I have got an appointment on this monday but I know they will wait for another week but I am exhaust tired now because of swelling on hands and feet. Any suggestions?

Pineapple, curry, sex, blow jobs where you swallow (it's a rule that the last one should never be disclosed to any man anywhere...)

GinNotGym19 · 24/08/2019 16:51

Sex worked for me! He needs to finish though, it’s meant to be the sperm that helps

LottieLou90 · 24/08/2019 18:03

I tried it all, sex, curries, pineapple, long walks etc. I was so fed up then someone on MN suggested walking one foot on the kerb and one foot on the road. I live on a big hill so walked up and down the fucker looking a right weirdo with one foot on the pavement and one on the road. Apparently it opens your pelvis?

I went into labour 6 hours later.

Others will say baby comes when they are ready but I remember feeling soooo irritable, I also had spd which was a bitch.

Fingers crossed for you OP.

Nipple stimulation!!!!! Read up on it and do it. I swear to god......

EllenAshSky1 · 24/08/2019 18:12

I don't every thing as I was 1 week late and was over being pregnant at this point lol.
Nothing worked.
I was told i would be induced which I did not want.. again!!!

I was told sex works.. so went home and put it on my partner lol, the next morning I was in labour!!! May be a coincidence but worth a try!!! Lol.

EllenAshSky1 · 24/08/2019 18:13

@kitk 😂😂😂

Crunchymum · 24/08/2019 18:16

@kitk

I actually think your last "tip" was made up by a man Shock

YouSayPotatoesISayVodka · 24/08/2019 18:17

Lavender bath helped me go into labour on my due date and the baby arrived a few hours later.

Sex helped when I was about to have my first iirc but my ex repulsed me by that point so it was grudgingly.

Intheupsidedown · 24/08/2019 18:17

Clary sage. Get it massaged in, have a bath, burn in oil burner. I got it in Holland and barrett.
I swear it's what started my labour

WeShouldOpenABar · 24/08/2019 18:18

Deep squats

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 24/08/2019 18:22

Fuck all. I went into labour 40+13 with DD, having had two sweeps, two sessions of acupuncture Blush, sex, nipple stimulation, curries, pineapple, long walks...

I only went over a week with DS but didn't bother with all the home remedies guff as I know it didn't work last time!

Good luck OP. The last few weeks are the worst. It'll all soon be over. Smile

Bobbiepin · 24/08/2019 18:24

@kitk sex works because sperm softens the cervix, its gonna do nothing pooling around in your stomach!!

FairyDust92 · 24/08/2019 18:29

Can you ask for a sweep?

lau888 · 24/08/2019 18:38

Exercise is probably the only thing that might help - scrubbing the floor, dancing around the house, etc. However, if you're really uncomfortable, I would just book in for an induction. My OBG said 38 weeks was term and would have been happy to book you in a fortnight ago. GL with the birth! x

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 24/08/2019 18:44

@kitk you fell for that one didnt you Grin

Everything I could suggest has been suggested. I remember being super nice to ex when pregnant with DD1 trying to seduce him, until he said with a hurt face 'you only want to use me for sex', snapping and roaring at him 'YOU PUT HER IN THERE YOU GET HER OUT'.

Hope you go into labour soon. Dont drink castor oil, its gross. The after-burps will haunt you.

crustycrab · 24/08/2019 18:51

Nothing. It's all a load of rubbish

IVEgottheDECAF · 24/08/2019 18:54

Have you had the swelling looked at op?

I am 38+2 with dc5 so i feel your pain

northernlites · 24/08/2019 18:59

Sex may work as it has prostaglandin in that are also in the drugs they use for induction

Dates too, lot of research coming out about dates

daphine2004 · 24/08/2019 19:00

Haha. This thread has had me in stitches! I’m due on Monday and if he isn’t here by 30th I’m being induced. However I am really hoping for a September delivery so I’m being proactively lazy. It’s my second so hope he isn’t too eager to arrive.

My midwife suggested sex as being the only thing which will work as it’s the same hormone from semen they administer for induction. However, I also think your body needs to be conducive to all of these efforts.

Good luck - oh raspberry tea is supposed to be good. Never tried it though.

Breast stroke in a pool worked for me. (I added the “in a pool” bit in case you thought I’d been stroking my breasts!)
