To think there is a special place in hell for people who smoke cigarettes under other people’s windows?

Especially in a heatwave? It’s 31° in my flat, I’m 31 weeks pregnant, and apparently my options are to sweat my fucking bollocks off or open my windows to let some air in and have a flat that stinks of cigarette smoke.

I’m so fucking fed up of it I could cry.

Could be worse my neighbour's on either side have spent the summer smoking grass all day (on the right) and all night (on the left)

It’s awful. We are in a semi and our new neighbour smokes in his garden, that’s bad enough! It wafts through the house several times per day and night. I know there’s nothing I can do, he’s totally entitled to smoke in his own garden but it’s vile. Have to keep the kids widows closed at night to avoid it wafting in. I can’t imagine how awful it is for people in flats. Are they smoking on a balcony or in a communal garden?

Oh, we get plenty of that too!! Apparently some of our neighbours can’t make it through the fucking day without getting stoned... I’ve caught the smell as early as 7:30 some mornings...

They’re on a balcony, their flat is the floor below ours and their balcony is at a right angle to our bedroom window. Woman was stood right in the corner of the balcony (so as far from inside her own flat as she could get) which meant her smoke was coming straight up into my bedroom. We’re on the top floor and in the corner so we get the smoke from all the floors below us, which is just lovely.

Our direct neighbours would smoke pot, non stop, day and evening. Couldn't open the window as we had a new born and the smoke would.just fill the flat, though it was summer and 30'C. Fucking hated those bastards.

Yes! Why???! We've had that about three time with different neighbours. So lovely going to work at 7am with the stench of pot on my clothes 😡

Picklypickles · 23/08/2019 19:12

Another option is to get a fan or 2. We live in a new build which is really fucking hot all year round and opening the tiny little windows does bugger all to cool it down so we have fans!!

I liked the smokers standing under the window of the children's ward when my infant son had been admitted with bronchiolitis Angry

My ~lazy~ neighbour stands at her back door, which is around 2m from my patio doors, with a 6' fence separating us.

If she walked 3 metres to the left around the corner she could sit on her decking and smoke her fag there, which presumably would mean less 2nd hand smoke coming into my living room. But as she never does this, I cannot confirm.

AngeloMysterioso · 23/08/2019 19:15

We’ve got a fan in our bedroom, but without being able to open our windows all it does is move the same warm, stuffy air around... at the moment I’ve got it pointing out of my bedroom window in the vain hope it’ll suck some of the stink out and prevent any more smoke from coming in...

Could you put some plants around the edge of your balcony, and do some strategic watering (with a hosepipe) when she lights up?
She’ll soon learn to face the other way.

I’ve tried that before, I was very polite and they know I’m pregnant... they just don’t care.
