To think its bloody ridiculous for a gp surgery to divert patients phone calls away to on call system when open

Basically I just want to make a routine blood test appointment and I'm getting a recorded message to say ring the out of hours number

They are open until 6.30pm so I'm guessing they simply dont want the hassle of phone calls

Sounds like someone has switched the phones over to the out of hours early. Can you pop in to make the appointment?

They could be closed for training or some emergency.

Call the pit of hours and they will either treat you or take a message.

They where open until 1pm closed and reopened at 4 until 6.30pm.
I've been ringing since 4

I'm at work so cant go there in person

I dont want to call out of hours as it's only to make an appointment

Maybe it is training I dont know
