When is the damn bunny!

My dd will be 5 next month and since turning two she has adopted a bunny as her comforter and what she will not sleep without!

I naively though we were safe and we would never loose it as it never leaves the house!

Guess what! We cannot find the bunny, last seen Saturday morning, not seen since, and we never let it leave the house!

We have searched, dh previously as I’ve just had the last few days doing 14hr shifts, and today I’ve searched.
We cannot find it! Dd is now not accepting that bunny is on an adventure, she wants bunny back... like yesterday!

Where could this bunny be?
Where have you found things that you thought you had lost?

My biggest fear is my youngest age 19months posted it in the bin as it is her favouring thing to put things in the bin. We usually check the bin bags but dh admitted he never checked the last three bin bags that went out, and we had our fortnightly collection yesterday!

Help!
She has the same bunny in different colours and sizes but they are not the same! 🙄 so a replacement one won’t work.

If it's a jelly cat one and you have the same size put it on s very long boil wash then once dry wrap child's PJ's and other clothes around it for as long as possible .Then put bunny in an easy for the child to find. This had fooled my current charge once. We now tell her that bunny wants a spa day which she loves

My DS has pushed his bunny/car/wherever toy he was playing with down the back of the tv unit (so the toy was caught between the wall and the back of the unit and wires) a few times. It's now the first place I look!

BeenHereForAges · 23/08/2019 14:04

We had this a few days ago. Have you checked at the bottom of your bed under the duvet? Ours turned up there!

katewhinesalot · 23/08/2019 14:08

Keys turned up inside the drum of a toy washing machine once.

LadyFlumpalot · 23/08/2019 14:13

In the washing basket/ machine? Just thinking if you have changed her sheets the bunny might have gotten tangled up with them.

DontCallMeShitley · 23/08/2019 14:45

I was suggesting one the same size and colour, not just any old replacement.

MN have a good record for locating identical bunnies, teddies, comforters etc. You just need to say what it is and people will search for one, which you then bash up a bit to make it look used and like the missing one.

BelgianWhistles · 23/08/2019 14:48

Could Bunny have been posted out of a window? Do you have a porch or extension roof that s/he could have landed on?

BelgianWhistles · 23/08/2019 14:50

As a child, I lost my teddy and was hysterical. My grandma eventually found him underneath the mattress of my bed at her house, so squashed between the mattress and the bed frame. I suspect my dad might have put teddy under there for a joke and then forgotten all about it.

My DD had an elephant, her constant companion, slept with it every night for 5 years. It got lost - we bit the bullet ...

"Sorry hunny, we can't find Ellie anywhere, we have looked and looked but you will have to choose a different toy tonight, He might turn up sometime, but you need to choose another for now"

She sobbed for a bit, we comforted her, she slept with Jerry the Giraffe instead and it was fine - if a little bit sad. Ellie never turned up.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 23/08/2019 15:02

Inside the pillowcase/duvet cover?

Nat6999 · 23/08/2019 15:17

My 15 year old autistic ds has a toy dog that other than school is his constant companion, he has one of those tags that are traceable by mobile phone for keys sewn inside him in case he gets lost.

kitk · 23/08/2019 15:18

Are you sure it hasn't left the house OP? A jelly cat bunny has been shared as found locally to me by several people. Did it have a name written in the ear?

Queenie8 · 23/08/2019 15:31

Not helpful but... We have a dog tag (with my no on) on a piece of ribbon tied round my ds Teddy after he had an adventure at the Dr overnight. My ds swore blind the Teddy hadn't left the house.

I hope bunny turns up.

Barmaid101 · 24/08/2019 00:15

Well it took many many hours today.

BUT WE FOUND IT!!!

We searched the playroom (2 bags for charity shop in process)
Utility room searched... washing now up to date and all is away for first time in ages!
Kitchen, all drawers and cupboards checked, few gadgets up for sale on fb as we have not used them in years
Living room found all sorts of shite down the back of the sofa including a discount card for work I’ve been looking for for months and spare garage door key.
Bathrooms... got rid of lots of empties and old bath toys no longer played with
Girls bedroom, Ikea bag of old cloths for charity shop and two bags sorted for a friend who is expecting
Our room... tidiest it’s been in ages.
Playhouse in garden.... now spotless and has more toys in(less in the house)

This then left the spare room.
The room the kids never go in.
The room they are not allowed to play in as it is a dumping room.
Why would it be in the spare room.
Might as well sort the spare room out as we’ve done the rest of the house...
we have an Ikea day bed and the double duvet was sat on top from when family was last staying.
There rolled in the middle of the duvet was a little pink ear sticking out.

At least we are not blaming our 19month old now.
And bunny has not left dd side ever since and is firmly tucked in in bed with her.

There should be little gps chips we should be able to get as parents to chip these sorts of toys so they can never be lost!

Massive thanks for the suggestions! We def looked some places we didn’t think of searching.

Glad you have found Bunny! I dread to think what would happen if our beloveds were lost.

Barmaid101 · 24/08/2019 00:27

Firmly tucked under her arm here 😂
