Talk me down from this tattoo

I'm in my 40's and have always wanted a tattoo! I've just never settled on what to have.

I'm really liking the idea of using the ink print of ds's foot when he was just born. It's pretty small so wouldn't be like a honking great foot on me. Grin

I'm not sure where I'd have it, maybe my foot?

Aibu? Is this horribly cheesy and naff? Blush

We have foot prints and part of the poem footprints in the sand for our baby that died. The only people I know who have that tattoo are the same

Your body. You do what you want.
But do make sure to put it somewhere where you could cover it up easily. In case you do feel sorry later in life
and payGOOD money to do it in a GOOD place. So you dont get stuck with somethi g that looks like a hamburger more then a footprint ; )

A friend of mine has one of her daughter's drawings tattooed on the back of her ankle. She loves it and it looks good. I think the drawing would work well. I think it would be better than a footprint, which as someone said, might look a little like someone has stood on you! If you do decide to go for an ankle tattoo, be aware that it can be painful getting it. I have three tattoos and the ankle one was by far the most painful!

For some reason, while it is unacceptable to comment other people's appearance in general, it is still considered okay for people to talk about how much they hate other people's tattoos and how horrible they look. Personally, I find these comments really rude, but people do still make them. So go for a design that you know that you love, and ignore what other people think. Some people are going to tell you how much they hate it no matter what it is.

I think one of the reasons a lot of women only get them in their 40s is because they've been to self conscious about what people think and as you get old you give less of a fuck because life is getting shorter.

I think that might have been the case 10/15 years ago but today it seems like just about everyone has tattoos.

I think the next trend will be clear skin as tattoos will become 'ageing' and only something the older generation did.

Same as @WorraLiberty, the only people I know to do this lost their babies.
