I'm in my 40's and have always wanted a tattoo! I've just never settled on what to have.

I'm really liking the idea of using the ink print of ds's foot when he was just born. It's pretty small so wouldn't be like a honking great foot on me. Grin

I'm not sure where I'd have it, maybe my foot?

Aibu? Is this horribly cheesy and naff? Blush

@WonderTweek I have some epic dinosaur ones! And a bloody one of me looking like a bloated drug addict, maybe won't use that one! Grin

I had a mid life crisis as well, got my tongue 👅 pierced and then bleached my hair and toned it silver 😂😂😂, my kids love it and think it’s hilarious 😂

karenbokaren · 22/08/2019 19:20

My husband is quietly horrified I think but it's better than having an affair or buying a convertible.

Proud displayer of a large tribal cat right down her back here 🤣 Its very sweet that you want to dedicate your tattoo to your son. If the foot idea doesn't work out, how about his birth date somewhere? That way its inconspicuous if thats what you want and no one can screw it up or whatever.

allteanoshade · 22/08/2019 19:21

I've only ever seen parents who lost a child get this tattoo, something to think about.

HellonHeels · 22/08/2019 19:25

Would love to see the tribal cat tattoo!

nrpmum · 22/08/2019 19:26

Bloody hell. Some lovely positive comments on here.

My husband has his sons footprint and hand print tattooed on his arm along with his name and date of birth. He's still alive and wakes us up at 5.30am frequently

I am almost shoulder to toe covered. I would say consider carefully where to place whatever you decide to get and go by recommendation for artist.

WorraLiberty · 22/08/2019 19:30

OMG those feet/butterfly tattoos are bloody awful! Shock

karenbokaren · 22/08/2019 19:32

After so many people have said it's often a lost child tattoo I've decided against it.

This is the first picture ds ever drew. Could this work?

I know not everyone will agree, and some people don't even like tattoos but if I get a resounding 'no that's fucking shit' I'll reconsider. Grin

skybluee · 22/08/2019 19:35

I like that tbh. Nice it means something to you.Does it really matter what any of us on here think? Have you seen the replies to some threads?!

karenbokaren · 22/08/2019 19:35

I mean, obviously it's fucking shit, he was tiny. But is it shit in a cute way or just shit shit way?

OP posts:
karenbokaren · 22/08/2019 19:36

Everyone in real life I've asked has just agreed with everything so I'm trying so get some balance.

ElspethFlashman · 22/08/2019 19:36

I think it's adorable.

karenbokaren · 22/08/2019 19:37

It's me and ds and a heart. He had a dream about it and woke up and raced off to draw it. He's had motor skills issues so dh and I both did a little sniffle when he showed us.

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 22/08/2019 19:41

Honestly? I'd have his drawing printed professionally and then framed. It's super cute, but I wouldn't have it as a tattoo.

Iwantacookie · 22/08/2019 19:45

I was going to suggest a drawing your t.v has done.
The only issue with footprints is because there's so much detail it will probably bleed into the skin over the years. A couple of mine like that the detail has bleed. It still looks nice just does look new.

Iwantacookie · 22/08/2019 19:46

T.v.?? Confused no idea how that auto corrected I meant dc

Treem · 22/08/2019 19:47

Oh that drawing and the story behind it is adorable. My concern would be that it would look like just a really shit tattoo. Could you get a piece of paper and crayon/pen tattoo with the drawing on the paper or something just to make clear what it is?

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 22/08/2019 19:48

Please, just don't. Think how it will look when you are in your 70s - all wrinkly and horrid. Cannot wait for the backlash when all these 'young' people get older and realise they just look awful!!

TerribleCustomerCervix · 22/08/2019 19:48

I love the drawing as a tattoo- done small enough and on the inside of an ankle I think it would be really interesting and original

SomebodysPerson · 22/08/2019 19:51

Life is too short not to get the tattoo you want.

I've had tla few tattoos for about 10 years and honestly they are just a part of me that I dont really pay attention to anymore. I barely notice them. So no regrets!

AlpacaGoodnight · 22/08/2019 19:54

You will be on one of those click bait articles with hideous tattoo fails! Cheesy and tacky! But that is just my opinion, I always think the world would be a boring place if everyone agreed with each other and had the same tastes. If you really want to do it wait a few months and see of you still feel the same, or trace (the cute on paper but weird if it's on your body!) Picture on in biro/henna, top ot up and walk around with it on for a few months!

rainydayy · 22/08/2019 19:55

Go for it and be proud of your lovely tattoo

georgialondon · 22/08/2019 19:57

I really associate that type of tattoo with the loss of a child. And whilst it's not my taste I totally understand why someone would want that tattoo for that reason. I haven't known anyone get that tattoo where the child is alive.
