To think it's fine for lesbians to hold events without males and that Leeds Council shouldn't have banned this advert?

A group of lesbians have organised a march which is just for lesbian women but Leeds Council have removed an advert for it because the event is "exclusionary" - specifically because it excludes male lesbians:

AIBU to think that sometimes it is fine to be exclusionary - that in both an LGBTQ+ community and a wider society where we are a very small minority and are often marginalised, it is fine for lesbian women to organise and attend our own events?

Sarah that's nice for you and your friends, but it doesn't tally with what we see on twitter and other SM. There are literally thousands of examples of lesbians being threatened and verbally abused. Not to mention the experiences of posters on here.

If 'Male lesbian' is a made-up slur, and lesbians (female homosexuals) want to advertise a march as being just for lesbians and their female friends, then why should anyone object to that? Aren't they allowed to say which of their friends they want to support them?

I think the OP is BU - the council has every right to say they don't want to advertise this if they don't want to.

Women who love other women should be able to have a march by themselves. The wider Context is that trans women have tried to foist themselves onto the lesbian scene, in the dating apps, in lesbian clubs and honestly lesbians are just not into dick.

Not really. The council is funded by public money, and that includes lesbians. The council doesn't exist just to please themselves, it exists to serve the people who live in their area.
There is a possibility they are breaking the law here by not recognising lesbians as a protected minority and I for one would love to see them being sued if that is the case.

Anyone with an understanding on primary level biology knows that you can't change sex. No matter how hard you stamp your feet and demand it.

sarah neither I, nor any of my friends or colleagues have ever experienced my current straight male colleagues trying to shag us, or being sexist or homophobic. So on their behalf I don’t want anything advertised as being Lgbt or women only. Same logic.

Dont forget also when Mckinnon said that lesbians need to "get over" their "genital hangups". Imagine if a non trans identified heterosexual male said that. Why should this be any different?
