To be nervous about selling car/test drive?

We're selling our car privately and have someone coming on a three hour trip to see it tomorrow morning! I'm making sure my husband is at home to do test drive, the buyer is bringing his brother and I've said only one of them can go on the test drive and to bring proof of insurance and driving license. My DH says I shouldn't let the brother wait in the house with me either. Seems really unfriendly but I get what he means. I'm still worrying something will go wrong. Am I being silly?! I wish it was a family/couple coming. He says he'll pay cash if he wants it so I guess we'll also need to have that checked at the bank before handing the keys over!! It's all such a stress!

I've just recently sold my old car. Was my first time selling a car and I felt exactly the same. It was nerve wracking. I had only myself and the DCs here when I had the viewing, I let them take the car to test drive it but got them to leave their car keys and car with me until they returned.

The buyer insured the car before collecting it when he purchased and gave me cash for the car. I just checked the mkneh in front of him and gave him and me a receipt which we both signed stating the car was sold and seen as tested. I also got him to tax the car online before leaving and I done the log book details change online.

I'm sure all will be fine.

Thank you! I'm the worrying type! Thinking of all the what ifs and DH is no better!

Just make sure you've signed your paperwork to sign the car over to them before they leave so they are the registered new owners. As far as I remember when transferring vehicles within family it's on the V5 document and then you can go online to the direct gov website to do it online if you want.
