To ask for your favourite gross thing to do?

What's your favourite thing that people consider gross but you love doing?

Do you take ultimate joy in cleaning a plug hole? Is clearing your gutters the most satisfying feeling? Is it getting your ear wax out that makes you happy?

For me, it's plucking out ingrown hairs. I love doing this and at least twice a week take tweezers to my legs and dig them all out. Some think it's disgusting, I find it incredibly satisfying. Plus, it annoys me to see them.

So what is your "thing" that makes you happy?

Cleaning out the shower seal every month or so. First with toilet paper, and then with cotton buds dipped in bleach. It's disgusting. Feel so much better when it's done.

Does that count?

Dieu · 18/08/2019 23:02

@HeartboxTeddy

Tempting as that is, I shall politely decline Grin

It's only my own hair - and that of my children - I could do it with. Anyone else's would give me the heave (I'm single, so don't have to do it for a partner).

WellVersedInEtiquette · 18/08/2019 23:02

I get the most pleasure out of cleaning the plug hole out. It's always full of my (head) hairs and if you tease it out slowly it brings extra lumps of the kids hair Grin
Wasn't quite so much fun on holiday in an apartment when I had to do the same knowing it wasn't our hair (blocked plug!)

HeartboxTeddy · 18/08/2019 23:02

@Time40 I don't know if they are awful. There are about 6 hairs on each leg that grow sideways just under my top layer of skin, so I can see the hairs perfectly, they're flat and don't shave off or lift with a finger brushed over them. So I get them out from under the skin and pluck them out.

Sorry, I was trying to give suggestions/be funny! Clearly I tried too hard Blush

I even love it when you have to tug a bit. I would imagine it's like how a fisherman feels when he reels in a catch Grin And I have very long hair, which helps.
God, I am truly disgusting (it's a wonder I'm single, it really is!!).

ZiggyB · 18/08/2019 23:13

Eating my sunburn peelings. Might have outed myself there though Blush

MadCattery · 18/08/2019 23:15

It's so gross, I've never told anyone in real life. DH has psoriasis and before getting it under control, he had quite a few spots covered with "plaques", the dry circular sheet of dead skin. I LOVED picking them off, although he thought it was embarrassing and gross.

PookieDo · 18/08/2019 23:17

I like picking and plucking things too

DD loves it more than I do she always wants to do it. She once spent an hour picking the tiny flat hairs on my legs

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 18/08/2019 23:20

Picking my nose. Picking my sons nose.

Isittheend · 18/08/2019 23:22

I do the ingrown hairs with tweezers thing (and not just on my legs Wink )

Blutopia · 18/08/2019 23:22

Fucking hell this thread is SO. DISGUSTING.

I can't stop reading it.

I've wracked my brains but the most disgusting thing I can think of that I love doing is shaving the hard skin off my feet with a scalpel.

But I would never eat it, I'm not a bloody animal. The dog is quite partial to it though.

Removing the placenta from cows that haven't cleansed. You have to leave it for about 5 days to rot down and then twist the hanging-out bit into a rope, follow it up to the uterus and gently unpeel each cotyledon, without tearing it or damaging the uterus, till you get the slippery plop as the whole thing comes away and flops onto your feet. It stinks but is sooo satisfying, especially when it comes away perfectly and you don't leave a scrap behind.

littlepeaegg · 18/08/2019 23:43

God I love this thread!

I love watching Dr Pimple Popper and also ear wax removal videos too!! They are so grim but so addictive, you should see what gets pulled out of those ears!!

I pick at dead skin and chew too EnvyConfused so weird and why?!

Nose picker but not eater

Popping spots

Tweezering anything I can

Cleaning my DS ears

BizzzzyBee · 18/08/2019 23:47

I love picking and popping. The amount of skin that came off my leg after being in a cast for a month was amazing. And I remember fondly all the skin that peeled off my newborn baby in sheets. I also like squeezing my dog’s blackheads when she’ll let me.

WanderingTrolley1 · 18/08/2019 23:51

Cleaning (mine and the children’s) ears with cotton buds
Tweezering hairs on chin
Removing hair from bath plug hole
Chewing toenail clippings
Picking bogies and eating them
Squeezing hunk out of pierced ear holes
Pulling split ends apart/off

PaddingtonMare · 18/08/2019 23:59

@BearRabbitPants sounds like you have pica!

RussellTheLoveMuscle · 19/08/2019 00:04

Blimey Powershower, that's hardcore

LemonPrism · 19/08/2019 00:15

When I get an annoying bit of nail on my toe... I bite it off. I don't bite my fingernails anymore but I do enjoy biting my toenails

@BearRabbitPants that's called PICA and it's a psychological condition.

LemonPrism · 19/08/2019 00:20

I am also a dry skin eater... does, does everyone do this and just pretend we don't?!

Coffeeandchocolate9 · 19/08/2019 00:31

Doing a biore nose strip thingy

oh yeah

*monPrism

Lol maybe! I do but wouldn't admit it in person! I do love a good soak in the shower and then go at hard skin on feet with my schol foot file. So much sludge comes off if the skin is wet Grin I don't eat that though

EverdeRose · 19/08/2019 00:34

Might be outing but I'm a nurse, I like nothing better than cleaning a grubby belly button and getting any umboliths out. I also offer my services to pluck chin hairs and squeeze spots, both my colleagues and patients take up the offer.

ZiggyB · 19/08/2019 05:53

powershower I think you win Grin

origamiunicorn · 19/08/2019 06:17

Are you a journalist OP? Your post sure sounds like it.

LiveInAHidingPlace · 19/08/2019 06:29

Plucking and picking here too.

I get really spiky white hairs growing from my chin and I love plucking them then showing them to my husband. He's usually impressed. I also like to squeeze his blocked pores, especially if they look like nothing but suddenly explode. The hard chunks are best.
