Apple won't sell whole albums to gouge more money

Just tried to buy mum some golden oldies music and Apple won’t sell the whole album BUT… you can buy each single for 99p.. for 30 tracks!!. So angry!!!

This should be bloody illegal.. if supermarkets suddenly refused to sell whole packs of biscuits only selling single biscuits for 10p or a £1 a piece …they’d be an uproar.

Apple helped for force record companies out of biz and now after millions of us have been forced to purchase music through I-tunes they closing it. WTF??!! www.theguardian.com/technology/2019/jun/02/apple-expected-close-itunes-tim-cook

It’s not even like they built the industry, they just profited nicely from it, and now if they don’t want to be good custodians of the music any longer they should be forced to SELL it not close it down on a whim. Where does that leave us all??

The EU should get involved and sue them for this blatant in ya face profiteering. If we can’t trust them to be good custodians why let them have our markets in the first place???

Let them sell apps and hardware alone if that’s all they’re good for. Hey Apple you break, it you keep it….Or AIBU?

Can't she just stream it on Spotify, it's completely free unless you get premium. I don't know anyone who pays to download music.

If I buy music (which admittedly hardly ever happens) I buy a second-hand CD on-line and copy it to computer format myself. One of my devices is an old ipod, so actually apple format also playable on my computer via itunes is one of the three digital formats I copy the CD to. (The others are Windows and MP3.)

In an ideal world I would only own digital copies of music and books, but in the real world it's cheaper to own physical copies.

It's a bit like what Amazon did - undercut lots of small booksellers and businesses and they went out of business, cornered the market and then whacked up the prices.

The world is being taken over by a handful of global, gigantic, mega-rich companies.

I just pay for Apple Music subscription for me and dd, you pretty much get everything on there. Their playlists are really good as well!

Spotify is free

No one is forcing you to use Apple to buy music ... There are many alternatives.

I’ve just had a look and I don’t think most albums are like this
