AIBU to want to keep Sky TV?

First world problems and all that, but...

We are trying to save money and DH suggested cancelling Sky.

I don't want to because:

  • We always stack up programmes to watch as 'box sets' as a couple.
  • I am an early riser so often record in the evening to watch before everyone else is up.
  • We just have a basic package so would be saving only a (relatively) small amount.
  • We are lucky enough that we don't need to save the money, we just want to divert more into holidays/work on the house etc.

AIBU to keep it?

YABU.

You can live without it- there are one day and one month passes via Now TV you could have for say the period over Christmas where you are more likely to make a lot of use.

The £200 deal on Now is for all sports channels, and runs for 10 months. if you don't cancel it goes up to £33pcm. And I do truly pay 33.20 a moth for the entertainment pack, and have done for about a year...

I stand corrected

Cancelled ours years ago and the TV licence too. Saves me about £40 a month which really helps. I have a national trust and RSPB membership plus Netflix and amazon prime instead. More outdoors time, less TV time.

We wasted lots of time flicking through channels trying to find something to watch. I honestly think TV has had its day now, streaming services have killed the TV star.

I'm another fan of the Humax free sat box.

We only got it a few weeks ago as dh wanted to cancel the Sky/BT package as I'm on maternity leave and we are cutting back on unnecessary spending.

I only watch a few channels but I do like to record shows to watch later. The Humax is brilliant all free TV channels and able to record.
We also have Netflix and Amazon prime ( I often get Prime for free as every time I order something from Amazon that arrives late I complain and they give me a month for free).

When dh wants to watch sport he will pay for a now tv day/week/month pass depending on what the current offer is .... Or he can disappear to the pub and watch it there.
