AIBU to order Indian?

saaagp · 16/08/2019 15:21

I rarely eat takeaway but I'm really under the weather. I haven't eaten yet today and all I ate yesterday was 2 slices of beans on toast with cheese (around 6 pm). I'm really craving Indian food but DH (day off) says he really doesn't fancy off and would prefer sushi. AIBU to ignore him? Sushi on a cold stormy day does nothing for me.

Ignore the controlling prick. Order what you want and he can order what he want.

Call it a one off treat for a rainy Friday 🤷‍♀️

WorraLiberty · 16/08/2019 15:39

I'm asking if it's unreasonable to just ignore my (mostly) nice husband's request. He finds our local Indian "too lemony". He's asked we have anything else but I've got a craving now.

I think that's reasonable of him to suggest something else.

picklemepopcorn · 16/08/2019 15:40

You pick this time, he picks next time?

Shoxfordian · 16/08/2019 15:42

Is he really nice most of the time or just when he gets his own way?

Frownette · 16/08/2019 15:42

Worra she's not eating properly though, if it helps her kick start her appetite he can choose next time

SlightlyMisplacedSingleDad · 16/08/2019 15:43

You seem a little angry, @MrsTerryPratchett. I'm not entirely sure how you managed to turn a light-hearted comment into a suggestion of sexism, but there you go. I'm pretty confident that Mr Terry Pratchett would have found the humour in somebody asking the internet to decide whether they should eat at Harga's House of Ribs or have one of CMOT's pies. But, since this is clearly a serious enough issue to warrant telling somebody else to "fuck off", then here's another vote for just getting two takeaways 🙄

AmIThough · 16/08/2019 15:44

We always order separately as DP doesn't like Chinese and I don't like Indian, and if the minimum order charge means I have to order extra food to reheat tomorrow then so be it 🤷‍♀️🤣

Ponoka7 · 16/08/2019 15:47

Have you signed up for a partnership or a life of servitude?

You can afford to eat what you want and are craving when ill.

Why impose all these unnecessary restrictions on yourself?

22Giraffes · 16/08/2019 15:48

Bit harsh to call him a controlling prick because he fancies something different to what op does Confused

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/08/2019 15:50

Raw Fish vs Spicey Deliciousness?

There is no contest.

And get yourself extra hajis - you deserve them.

Juells · 16/08/2019 15:50

MrsTerryPratchett
Bollocks to sushi.

^^ this

BarbaraofSeville · 16/08/2019 15:51

Do you have a Waitrose nearby? A lot of them have a really great sushi counter and they have an 'Indian Feast for a tenner' deal on, that's really good, so if so, send him out for Waitrose, he can have his sushi and you can have more curry and sides than you know what to do with.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/08/2019 15:51

*bhajis - not hajis

I apologise if I've inadvertently used a term/word which is rude in forrin.

saaagp · 16/08/2019 15:52

I honestly wouldn't mind ordering from 2 separate places every now and again but DH sees it as wasteful. It is odd I suppose as we both earn a good salary. It's just the way he is.

I love sushi, but not today, with this weather.

saaagp · 16/08/2019 15:54

I really don't fancy leaving the house. It would disturb the dog (bad excuse). I have onion bhajis, tandoori lamb chops, saag paneer and chicken jalfrezi coming. We'll see if DH has anyone or not.

It's sad how excited I am.

How many men, I wonder, would ask this question in reverse.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 16/08/2019 15:54

Chilli chicken, mushroom rice, keema peas (extra spicy) and a garlic naan, sorted.

justasking111 · 16/08/2019 15:55

OH is poorly I am nipping out later for a curry to tickle his taste buds. It is what you do for your partner in these circumstances.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 16/08/2019 15:56

It's only wasteful if you throw the additional food out; just keep it in the fridge and reheat tomorrow.

I find it really odd that you're only 'allowed' to eat the same. And if you haven't eaten for a couple of days, just eat whatever you fancy to get some food in you! He's a selfish git if he objects to that. Enjoy! I have curry envy now!

verticality · 16/08/2019 15:57

You're ill! And curry is really good for sorting out a cold. Your DH needs to stop whining and start looking after you. Plus, sushi isn't a food, it's a decoration.

Zaphodsotherhead · 16/08/2019 15:58

Oh god, I hate men who moan and whinge about it being 'expensive' just to have what you want to eat!

Life is short, food is one of the few pleasures in it on a miserable day like this, and you don't feel well. Nobody is holding his head under a tandoori chicken dish, if he doesn't want it then he can have something else!

Tosser.

It really isn't Grin I've not long had lunch but now I WANT INDIAN FOOD.

Lweji · 16/08/2019 15:58

YANBU, whatever the ill person wants, we go with it.

verticality · 16/08/2019 15:58

Lemony = citric acid is an ingredient in some Indian foods. I've also had some meals with preserved lemon, which have been lovely!
