This is a bit of using AIBU for traffic, but it's also genuine AIBU.

DS7 had an accident with this scooter (think skateboard, not motorbike!) in which he landed on his face and badly fractured his two front teeth high up in the root. They will not heal. The senior dentist has said he can now go back to sports (after a month of staying calm, trying not to bump his mouth in anyway to assist potential healing) and he needs to have a helmet to cover his mouth (if the teeth come out, we've basically no chance of any replacement for the next 5 years!).

So I'm looking for helmets for scootering and skateboarding with jaw protection..and there are none! Some people wear mouthguards (he'll have to as well to play football now), but that's not protective enough for cycling and scootering for him with already broken teeth.

So a) AIBU in not finding any skateboarding/scootering helmets with mouth protection when clearly (you can google images if you don't believe me!) there are plenty of broken and damaged teeth from this activity. I am a bit surprised that they don't exist. Does anybody know of some? I'm aware of mountain biking ones, but they are not quite the same.

and b) if you have a kid who is adventurous with scootering/skateboarding, please make sure they at least also wear a good mouthguard as well as the other protection. It's not cool, but it will be if more people do it!
