F**k off Moth

Last night in bed on my phone, lights off relaxed as can be, did a giant fuck off Moth come swooping past my screen? Did I age 10 years in a single second? Well, yes I did.
I actually have no beef with moths, but in the darkness, at my most delicate relaxed state, having already checked my room and bed for spiders, I really do not need it.

Moths. Known as Flappy Bastards in our house.

I hate them! For their sheer stupidity if anything.

They're supposed to be attracted to light, but do they go straight to it? No!! They have to flap straight into your face first.

RedCowboyBoots · 12/08/2019 22:51

Urgh, I hear you. Fucking Aragog ran across my floor earlier- I swear it was bigger than the top of a pint glass. I panicked and threw a nearby football at it and the fucker legged it under my sofa. Off to bed early for me...

Moths don't eat clothes.

They lay their eggs in natural fibres and the developing grubs eat the cloth. They won't eat your polyester work suit.

I quite like moths on the whole. In the living room or kitchen I tend to leave them alone unless they're very big and then I catch them and chuck them outside, but yes I suppose I would be rather freaked out under the circumstances you describe.

It's particularly annoying when I'm trying to read in bed and one gets inside the bedside lamp shade and I can't get to it as it whizzes around the inside of the shade in a light induced frenzy. Very irritating.

@KatyaZamolodchikova -flappy bastards. Love it!!

Apparently there are lots of moths over here this year. as the climates gotten warmer.

I love them but not in my bedroom. Or making that noise when they drink off lightbulbs, shudder. I wouldn’t kill them though. Just get an empty pint tumbler and a postcard and catch them and immediately put them out without my sweaty fingers damaging their delicate wings. I currently have a butterfly in the kitchen. I found it outside in the rain on its back but it seems to have perked up with some sugar water and a stem of butterfly bush from the garden. Hope the cat doesn’t notice it. This story may not end well.....

My only phobia besides heights. And I'd climb a bloody cliff sooner than have a moth in the same room as me tbh. Not bothered when they are outside but hate them inside as they always fly up at you. Used to drive me nuts growing up when my parents didnt take my fear seriously and left the windows wide constantly. So glad I stay in the city now so hardly any of the little gits around :)

I unfortunately encountered a hawk moth on returning home after a night shift and leaving bedroom window open.

Thought I had a bird/bat flying around at first as never encountered one that size, slightly dramatic I know but how it seemed Blush

Hawk Moths are definitely massive Flappy Bastards, which they shall now be referred to thanks Katya Wink

Grin Grin Grin

Omg howling at you're next, love moth, amazing.
Yes this ginormous flappy barsteward flew into the small gap between my face and the screen, I did mention that it was pitch black didn't I? I obviously thought the worst because I have a pathological fear of spiders, so panicked in the most dramatic way but throwing covers and phone and knocking over lamp. I didn't love it.

I hate them - almost to phobia extent - yet don't mind butterflies.
It always makes me feel shallow, being more tolerant of what is essentially a prettier version of the same thing, but there you go.
