she is so perfect, always offering to help out, sort of too much iykwim, looks lovely, great cook nice house etc and always very organised, BUT can be a total control freak and really judgemental in a casual way. she pushes my buttons so I up my game by offering to do stuff for her then she gets really .... annoying... as above and then I wish I hadn't offered so end up sulking on the inside and having a crap time. so AIBU to dread spending the weekend with her? in a tent?

I don’t think you are being unreasonable in not enjoying her company; some personalities just don’t gel. However, knowing how you feel about her and her personality, why are you going away with her? A small space, such as a tent, is only going to magnify these issues.

So practise backing off from the friendship and let it go. Life is too short to maintain half-friendships; they should be full-on-fabulous or nothing. I have very strict rules about who comes into my friendship circle; they can be anyone from anywhere but anyone who feels like terrible hard work or engages in oneupmanship gets gently ejected.
