To think my friend was being a knob

Just got back of holiday. On the return flight there was a very obese woman queueing to check in my friend said "if I'm sat by her I'm asking to be moved" I said don't you think that would be awful for her to hear that. He said, I don't care I paid for a seat by myself not to share. The thing is he's overweight himself, I said it must be very hard for people like her to fly, he said he knows that's why he rarely goes out as he consious of his weight, I was Shock

I was shocked as he's always moaning about his weight yet felt it was ok to asked to be moved away from this poor woman. I've been obese so I know how it feels to be stared at and have uncalled for comments.

I'm still baffled by him.

There was no need to say anything unless it happened but as someone who ended up losing the first 3 days of a weeks holiday in pain with fibromyalgia and joint hyper mobility after being sat on half my seat during a 5 hour flight I can understand someone asking to move if the women ending up taking up per of their seat. This lady was so big the armrest would not go down and she could not get her traytable down and even asked me to raise mine back up as it was poking into her ( I refused as it was for the in flight meal)
When I first sat down I did descretly go to cabin crew and asked to be moved but was told there was no more room and I had to put up with it or I could get off the plane

Next time i would for my own sake make more of a fuss. If the arm rest can’t be put down then 2 seats should be paid for. However I do think airlines need to look at this for the future as more and more people are getting bigger and also their are illnesses and medical conditions that cause this (in that case 2 seats should be provided for the price of one if proof from a doctor is given)
