15 weeks Monday and high screening for downs

Hi all,
I’m a mom of two girls, and was so overwhelmed to find out I was pregnant after 11 year gap, I’m 35, and my partner hasn’t got any children.
We had a routine scan and bloods taken.
The nt was 2.2 but my bloods was showing increased risk for Down syndrome.1/95.... we was offered a cvs but unfortunately baby was up front and placenta behind. However they did notice a leaky heart valve, We was then offered an nipt test which we paid for, results come back as high risk. Got to go for animosities on Monday at 9am, anyone else going throu this? Feel like my whole world is upside down.

Hi My silly went through all this they offered to terminate pregnancy thankfully she refused. They where told very little chance off survival but thankfully 6 years on he is thriving he does have down syndrome but makes him so loveable.
He had valve problems on heart and got operated as 1 week
So although it is a worry for you now
You will be blessed with a child.
Make the best decision for you and baby.

Hi OP. I had a TFMR a few weeks ago (I was 14 weeks) after a diagnosis of Down’s. I have a 3 year old DS already and my DH and I did not feel equipped to cope with bringing up a child with potentially significant disabilities, one of the biggest factors for me was the impact on my DS both now and in the future, as an adult having to take responsibility for his sibling when we are gone. It’s a very personal decision and very difficult. I found speaking to ARC very helpful.

Also please remember even if your baby doesn’t have DS there are no guarantees that a “perfectly healthy” baby will not go on to have additional needs, autism, Aspergers etc. Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy whatever you decide x
