WIBU to tell dp to grow up

Went to town this morning with the dc's, did the food shopping etc, popped in to see dp at his work and came home.
I'm feeling sick so I'm back in my pyjamas for the rest of the day (which I never usually do).
Got a message from dp asking me if I can get him some just for men. It is a 30 min round drive for me to go back to town and get it for him. He works across from the supermarket but is embarrassed to buy it himself. He doesn't know anyone at the supermarket and could use the self scan tills.
WIBU to tell him to grow up and get it himself? He's been using it for years but still won't buy it himself.
If he asked when I was in town it would have been fine but now I'm home and think it's be so much easier if he went himself.

Asking you to buy it because he's too embarrassed ? This is a good time for him to stop being so silly. Self checkout is his friend.

Alb1 · 10/08/2019 15:16

If you normally get it for him without a problem and your issue is that your already home then it seems unnecessary to ‘grow up’ and get it himself as it’s basically insulting him for nothing. But of course YANBU to not go and get it, he can buy it himself or wait till a different day, he should have mentioned it sooner!

Alb1 · 10/08/2019 15:17

I meant to tell him to grow up... my typing is terrible today!

Cheeserton · 10/08/2019 15:27

I wonder, has your DH ever heard of a thing called the internet? I hear one can buy things from there without seeing a soul.

Igetknockeddownbutgetupagain · 10/08/2019 15:35

Grin Cheeserton - buy things on t’internet, you say? What is this madness?! Grin

Seriously though OP - Amazon prime it. Job done.

Soubriquet · 10/08/2019 15:39

He’s old enough to work, be in a relationship and have kids...why does he feel embarrassed to buy just for men??

Tell him to grow up

DisplayPurposesOnly · 10/08/2019 15:39

Perhaps not 'grow up' unless you're particularly looking for a row.

How about "Sorry, back home in my PJs not feeling well & won't be leaving the house again today. Be brave, pop into supermarket and use the scanner. Confuse onlookers by buying tampons and an avocado as well. You'll be grand Smile"

maras2 · 10/08/2019 15:48

Had to Google 'Just for men' Blush
It's bloody shampoo FFS.
I thought it was some kind of sex toy by the way he's embarrassed to buy it.
He needs to get a grip, I've never heard such nonsense. Shock

thesnapandfartisinfallible · 10/08/2019 15:52

Shampoo?! I thought it was lube or something. Yes tell him to grow the fuck up. Because washing is so embarrassing? Hmm

moobar · 10/08/2019 15:54

@maras2 so did I!!

BigChocFrenzy · 10/08/2019 15:56

I thought it must be some product to do with continence or sex
He's that embarassed about shampoo Confused

Whattodo20192 · 10/08/2019 16:00

Grey hair remover/hair dye

Laughing at these responses though thinking it was a sex toy etc 😂😂

I have tried telling him nicely the last year or two that he shouldnt be embarrassed by it so I think I need to be harsh now and tell him to grow up to actually get through to him

OP posts:
PixieLumos · 10/08/2019 16:03

I didn’t know what it was either. It’s a hair product! Are you sure he’s not just lazy and using embarrassment as an excuse?

Oakmaiden · 10/08/2019 16:03

His options:

  1. buy it himself
  2. wait until it is convenient for you to pick some up

It depends how much difference a day or two will make to those gray hairs...

PixieLumos · 10/08/2019 16:06

I think you should give him an ultimatum: either he buys is himself or you will share his ‘embarrassing’ secret with everyone you know...

MrsPinkCup · 10/08/2019 16:08

Amazon ? Will be here by tomorrow probably.

Oysterbabe · 10/08/2019 16:10

Why doesn't he just Prime it? He doesn't need to go to an actual shop like a caveman 😉

MrsPinkCup · 10/08/2019 16:11

See delivered by tomorrow. Hope you feel better soon op.

WIBU to tell dp to grow up
littlepaddypaws · 10/08/2019 16:11

do you become shy when you have to buy sanitary stuff op ? what about buying condoms etc ?
i regularly buy tena lady pads for my housebound mum, the chemist always says i'm brave because i don't have a bag for them, no, i just don't give a toss who sees them but then i'm probably old enough not to care about such things Grin

ysmaem · 10/08/2019 16:12

Tell him to purchase online. YANBU for refusing to drive 30mins to just pick up something he can easily get himself.

Ohyesiam · 10/08/2019 16:13

Amazon

HairyDogsOfThigh · 10/08/2019 17:20

I'd be tempted to ask him to buy some things for you whilst he's out. Perhaps you need a jumbo pack of condoms, a large cucumber, some batteries and some tampons? Would he be able to get those for, or is it just hair dye he's embarrassed to buy?

comedycentral · 10/08/2019 17:29

Amazon prime. Job done.

billy1966 · 10/08/2019 17:49

Definitely not.
Buy it himself or wait until it's convenient for you🙄
