To just be a total sloth today?

Weather is horrible outside and I’ve had a pretty crappy week including some news yesterday which has left me feeling pretty down.

DH is out all day. No kids so I’ve got a day to myself with no plans. I would usually force myself to do something - go to the gym, arrange to meet a friend, or at least get on with something practical in the house or garden.

Today I feel like staying in my PJs and doing nothing at all. NOTHING. There’s a whole list of jobs that need doing but I just want to lie in bed, watch Netflix, read a book.

AIBU to do this or am I just wasting a day? Who else has a sloth day like this from time to time?

We all need days like this!

GrimDamnFanjo · 10/08/2019 15:06

I'm still in bed and am reading mumsnetting but I have to take the dog out soon and it's tipping down.

Iwantacookie · 10/08/2019 15:11

Do it. I've helpful run some milk up to an ill friend (still in my pjs) having a coffee here then back home to slob out again.
I have prepped some steak skewers for dinner tonight and made a salad so I don't even have much to do there. Dcs are all out dp is playing Xbox so why not.

Last night, had so many plans about getting jobs done today....

Today, motivation is out the window.

Partner is watching arty programmes, and eating cereal. Im on mumsnet, having some toast. ..... Hay ho!

Arrowfanatic · 10/08/2019 15:22

Sloth day here too. Insomnia struck last night in a big way & i got no sleep at all. So I've been awake for 32 hours & counting with several hours still to go before i can go back to bed.

I've fed my children & animals, dinner will be cereal all round as no fucking way I'm cooking & DH just ate the leftovers i was planning to warm up. He's night shift so he's back in bed (ironic, but at least i could ring him last night for a chat when i couldnt sleeo) so to hell with any jobs. They can all wait.

MrsMozartMkII · 10/08/2019 18:15

I cooked dinner - if you count as cooking cutting up a quiche and putting oven chips in the oven... Now back on my sofa with a full tummy and a laptop and plans to do buggerall between now and bedtime.

Enjoy it. Definitely no guilt required.

theboywonteat · 10/08/2019 18:41

It’s fine. It’s a National Lazy Day today. Grin
Well, it is in the US but seems a good excuse. I am partaking today by staying horizontal on the sofa Wink

FiveLittlePigs · 10/08/2019 18:45

Oops, I failed. I've cleaned the kitchen, including the cooker hood/extractor fan, potted up some plants and cleaned 2 bathrooms.

Must have harder! Grin

Blankspace4 · 10/08/2019 19:17

@theboywonteat is it really??! Well, that’s one US tradition I’m very happy to adapt here Smile

I needed a day like this today but unfortunately my DH is working and I have had sole care of our 2 year old. If you can do, do it! The thing I miss most about my pre parent life is time to myself just pottering in the house

Sloth lovers unite! Do nothing!

I am having a sloth evening. With the kids away for the weekend, I used the time since Thursday to paint and tidy DS's room. It has a sofa, so I am slothing there with chocolate and enjoying the never-to-be-repeated calm atmosphere of the room. I can see the floor!

missmouse101 · 10/08/2019 19:33

Similar here, it's been great! I achieved a load of laundry, started the dishwasher and trimmed my longhaired guinea pig! The entire rest of the time I've been lying on my bed or the sofa! Grin

MiddleLane · 10/08/2019 19:35

I did Parkrun this morning, had a shower, then did absolutely nothing until 3pm. Then I baked a cake, made a chocolate dessert and cooked a delicious veggie pasta - I'm now parked back on the sofa after eating the pasta, with my second helping of cake and choc dessert Grin

Brilliant day.

Blankspace4 · 10/08/2019 19:37

@MiddleLane that sounds like pretty much my dream day! I just need to get back in to Parkrun.

I’m actually grateful for dull / bad weather days occasionally - much as I love the sun. Makes me feel justified in hibernating!

We are doing the same. The weather is truly awful. The cats are sulking because it is too windy and rainy for them to go out and we had thunderstorms yesterday. I was rushed to hospital on Thursday though (am fine) and was ordered to rest for the next few days, so am taking full advantage. DH has just woken from a nap Grin

Pebbles16 · 10/08/2019 19:40

We regularly have Shatterday and Shunday. Shatterday: watch tv, play candy crush, and generally do nothing of any use. Shunday: housework, batch cooking and
Generally being over zealous on the domestic front.
I have broken the mould today and went to a gallery with my mum. But we were back before 10 and I have been quite sloth-like since!

slavetolife · 10/08/2019 19:57

🙋🙋🙋Me! I have a sprained ankle and haven't bothered getting dressed for two days - who cares!
