just had one.

landline call, picked up phone, "This is OFCOM, your internet connection will be cancelled in 30 minutes unless you speak to BT, press 1 to speak to BT ..."

I didn't press "1".

I looked on the net.

Its a scam. High call charges if you do press "1". Possibly they would try to scam you further.

Ugh! My phone is on TPS system too, who knows where they got my number.

Beware!

I've had several of these ones over the last couple of weeks and a few HMRC I'm going to get arrested and they're getting a warrant if I don't speak to them.

BT are complicit in these crimes. Anywhere else it would be called money laundering. They must be raking in millions from these criminals.

HoneyBeeHappy · 09/08/2019 14:50

How are BT raking it in? Chances are the number isn’t even in this country.

I had one a while back as well, it sounds like a hideous disembodied voice . Although it’s always helpful that I don’t have BT so no scope for confusion there. Grin.

ChicCroissant · 09/08/2019 14:50

I had two of the BT ones yesterday. We have no BT products so are obviously a scam!

Mopppop · 09/08/2019 14:52

Bstards.

And why, when I google a telephone number e.g. Halifax Bank helpline - do I get a whole list of numbers - but if you look closely they are scam sites offering to "connect" you at premium rates. Why isn't something done about this too? Surely these sites can be shut down easily enough?
