Oh my fucking God a monster crawled across the baby as I was reading a book (called Unfollow Me, not ironic and recommended it's really good) and the light of the phone mean I saw this horrible hairy cunt crawl over my baby.

Squashed it dead and fuck where is the justice in life.
Drama all round.

Pray for us.

great job-reaction

NapsAndTea · 08/08/2019 23:27

🤢🤢

movingontosomethingnew · 08/08/2019 23:27

Fuck. That.

StormcloakNord · 08/08/2019 23:29

I'm glad this never happened to me when DD was a baby.

I think I'd have flung her across the room.. Blush

FurnitureAndBackgammon · 08/08/2019 23:31

Good work op. Any mother would have done the same.

Erm no, I don't think so because us rational mums know it's only a bloody spider and it's not going to kill our babies 🙄

Poor thing, there really was no need to kill it.

You do realise spiders do a good job of killing the flies in your house don't you? Not that I'm wishing you an infestation of flies now, oh no 😉

bigfatmoggy · 08/08/2019 23:35

I can't believe you killed it, poor thing. It wouldnt hurt your baby. Haven't you heard the saying "if you want to live and thrive, let a spider run alive...?"

FWIW, this one ('Harry') has been living next to my chair in the sitting room for months, and I haven't had the heart to move him. He sneaks off behind a drawer unit if I get too close.....Grin

When I took my son for his first injections, upon opening his onesie to reach his leg, a humongous spider crawled out. I very nearly threw him across the room in shock and the nurse screamed the place down.

Ledkr · 08/08/2019 23:38

Horrendous.
We have had two today.
HOW DARE the hairy bastards be out in August.
October is spider season not bloody August grrrrr

Stillabitemo · 08/08/2019 23:43

Absolutely no need to kill it

TriptychDebbie · 08/08/2019 23:45

Don't want to make you feel bad or anything Wink

bigfatmoggy · 08/08/2019 23:49

And I may be wrong but the only (indoor) spiders I've ever known to bite are those ones about an inch long which sit halfway up walls and jump backwards when you try to catch them. They can nip if you trap them in your hands and they want escape (it works....Grin) but they aren't venomous.

Those big house spiders - which I think are the same as the big ones you get in the bath - don't even make webs so no mess. My only worry is, as a PP said, if you put them outside in winter they don't survive. It's a bit of a dilemma........ (Harry's OK obvs, but bedroom and bath ones do get removed, usually).

WhenDoesTheWashingEnd · 08/08/2019 23:50

They must be preparing an invasion!

I was just going outside for a late night ciggy (trying to quit and failing so judge away) and a huge monster was sitting over the door.

Obviously I couldn't just walk through the doorway in case it took my head off so had to engage the hoover!

A valiant defence by you!

P.s. I'm an advocate of live and let live with spiders most of the time but when they are a certain size and try to occupy my house they gotta go.

whereisthebloodypostman · 08/08/2019 23:50

Oh dear. I have been trying b v hard to teach toddler DS that spiders are friends and sing incy wincy when I see one in the house. In reality I'm fucking dying inside waiting for it to land on my head and get stuck in my hair Shock

BinkyBaa · 08/08/2019 23:50

Yanbu op, I'd expect many of the people who have an issue with you still eat meat, wear leather, swat mosquitoes, take antibiotics etc etc...
I'll generally try to catch them, and I quite like some kinds of spiders (the little zebra striped jumping ones can be quite cute) but I'd have mashed the fucker too. Can't risk it getting away and it's one less to come back inside.
To all the yabu-ers, I'm sure theres plenty more outside for you to play with!

SlimGin · 08/08/2019 23:56

Omg my very worst nightmare.
Did you use your bare hands??
Absolutely normal reaction to seeing something you instinctively see as dangerous/frightening speedily crawl over your baby.

Spider season is early this year HOWEVER my spindlies seem to be eating the big fat boys for me Grin

FurnitureAndBackgammon · 09/08/2019 00:06

Yeah I have taken antibiotics before so what the hell, I might as well slaughter every living thing that comes near me 🙄

WorraLiberty · 09/08/2019 00:06

I think I can understand why you killed it, because you wouldn't have wanted to go and hunt a glass and a piece of cardboard whilst leaving the spider with your baby, so killing it was quicker and easier.

But I'll never understand the 'giggly childish hysteria' towards spiders on MN.

All the "Burn the house down NOW!" type of silly giggly posts make women in general sound so weak and feeble.

Obviously I'm not talking about those with real phobias, although people like that tend not to post the 'oh so hilarious' over reactive nonsense that makes women look daft.

VenusTiger · 09/08/2019 00:08

Can’t stand it when people kill things for no good bloody reason. Makes me both so angry and really depressed.
It’s a house spider. It’s huge because it’s harmless and has to look like that so it won’t get eaten.
Imagine if giants walked the earth picking off humans.
Teach your baby to be kind to all living things (no, I’m not religious) and don’t pass on your fears to your kid.

BettyCrockaShit · 09/08/2019 00:11

Only one thing for it - burn the house down. NOW! PS. Your baby has the most perfect squishy legs.

Bettyboopityboop · 09/08/2019 00:15

You should get a stick vacuum like one of these:

www.dyson.co.uk/sticks/dyson-v7-motorhead.html?istCompanyId=4a4e927c-83dc-47c2-bdc5-53e127f27f1e&istFeedId=b4fdd4a6-c6dc-4a4f-8a5a-7eaaa7cdef93&istItemId=xmaatprmi&istBid=tzwt&utm_campaign=uk_en__floorcare__stick__do__dyson__na__na__shopping__all__range&utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid_search&utm_term=PRODUCT_GROUP&utm_content=ds_na&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=Cj0KCQjwkK_qBRD8ARIsAOteukDSe71pQp40AoxoY-19BPcfLLy_xeiqp1FnxVQ7Hiqj00I6VsgwOzQaAkElEALw_wcB

I vacuum all the spiders and any other moths, flies, mosquitos, whatever. Easier to get to and no more bug carcass squashed on to things.

For all the people saying save the spider, lol, I'll make sure to vacuum up your neighbourly spiders if they ever dare to visit! It's called trespass, and I don't take kindly to any bugs who want to freeload and start a nest in my home. You can invite them all in to yours!

FurnitureAndBackgammon · 09/08/2019 00:19

I think you'll find the spiders were there first, lol

Bettyboopityboop · 09/08/2019 00:22

I think you'll find the spiders were there first, lol

I don't remember any spiders paying my mortgage. Wink

Until a spider starts paying some bills then they will meet Mr. Dyson, my personal bailiff.

Dontsayyouloveme · 09/08/2019 00:25

Grab your kids and then set fire to everything!! 😂

kennyjenny · 09/08/2019 00:25

Google tells me they do die if our outside so actually smashing them up is probably more humane than putting them outside and letting them die of exposure*
*
I never knew this, I always thought I was doing the right thing by putting them outside! I shall leave them alone from now on! I would never kill them, I don't get why anyone would esp the harmless house spider.

Crunchymum · 09/08/2019 00:27

I would have killed it.

I would not have taken pictures and posted them here.
