Oh my fucking God a monster crawled across the baby as I was reading a book (called Unfollow Me, not ironic and recommended it's really good) and the light of the phone mean I saw this horrible hairy cunt crawl over my baby.

Squashed it dead and fuck where is the justice in life.
Drama all round.

Pray for us.

OMFG! That's massive! Shock

I once felt a tickle on my neck and brushed it away as i felt like it was a hair or something and it happened again a minute or so later so I grasped at the 'hair' and it was a fucking massive spider I can still sometimes feel it

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 09/08/2019 17:55

I swear there's two bite marks there

Well now you’re gonna have to throw the baby away with the bath water!

ILikeyourHairyHands · 09/08/2019 18:35

There was one that big in the bath today so i picked it up to pop in the corner ('cause I ain't afraid of no arachnids), BUT it wriggled out my hand and ran up my arm.

I can't deny there was a fair bit of dancing around the bathroom before I flicked it off my shoulder.

colourbynumbers · 09/08/2019 18:41

Fucking drama queen!

How do people like you even get through life?

Bettyboopityboop · 09/08/2019 18:46

I definitely believe this thread has been infiltrated by 12 year olds. Pay them no mind, OP.

PorkHollywood · 09/08/2019 18:52

I definitely believe this thread has been infiltrated by 12 year olds

What an odd belief.

JaimeBronde · 09/08/2019 18:53

I've told this story before about the screaming spider in my hair!
I woke up one night as I could hear a buzzing near my ear & also a faint high pitched whirring screechy humming noise.
Turned the light on & there was a fly on my face. Managed to bash it. Then I shook my hair just in case there were any more flies in there & a medium sized spider fell out!
I screamed then got the spider & threw it out of the window (sorry spider - I was just a bit shocked)
I'm presuming the spider was either shouting at the fly or screaming as he/she got trapped in my hair.

I did use to be terrified of spiders but gradual exposure has cured me of that.......thought I haven't yet gone down the full on stroke a tarantula yet (They they do look quite fluffy & cute in a bizarre way)

Bettyboopityboop · 09/08/2019 18:54

What an odd belief.

They have internet access, Mumsnet is one of the most popular sites in the UK, the caliber of responses here and you can do the maths.

SteamedPotatoes · 09/08/2019 18:57

Poor spider, we are in the UK, they are harmless and actually a sign of having a well insulated house. You do know killing them will bring your & all in the house financial misfortune? My Dad used to tell me that, not sure if it's true as I've never knowingly killed one !

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 09/08/2019 19:01

Yanbu I had to get a friend to get rid of a massive one in my bathroom

MsMD · 09/08/2019 19:09

Well done for killing it OP! I think I'd have died.

JaimeBronde · 09/08/2019 19:09

I was well impressed when my DSiL picked up one of those humongous house spiders in her cupped hands from the bathroom & walked downstairs with it to put it outside.

DeadFlea · 09/08/2019 19:09

Haven't read the whole thread but I'm wondering if you're in the UK? That is the largest spider I've ever seen! Well done for bashing it, I'm not that brave.

MyNameIsArthur · 09/08/2019 19:12

I was pleased with myself this afternoon. I tried to lift a spider out of my bath on a folded tissue so it wouldn't drown while I was cleaning the bath. However, it abseiled down and dropped into the water. I quickly rescued it but it was soggy and looked dead. I blew air onto it and it dried out and then got up and wandered off. I was so relieved! Life is precious.

Thats lovely Furniture. Spiders and dragonflies and other small creatures only have short lives so is sad if they are needlessly cut shorter

NaviSprite · 09/08/2019 20:38

To all those asking why OP didn’t just put the spider outside, most house spiders die outside and it’s a pretty slow painful death... so yeah not the best solution to those who don’t want to kill our 8 legged interlopers.

My DH and I both dislike spiders but I’m doing my best to ignore my phobia so my twins (currently toddlers) don’t develop a fear because of me. We do have a rule though, if the 8 legged bastard is so big it should be paying board, kill the fucker 😂😂

cunningartificer · 09/08/2019 21:00

Hmmm. I try not to be scared of spiders or kill them (dutifully handles tarantulas to show DCs they’re not to be feared despite internal terror, once was breast pumping and huge spider ran down inside my dressing gown sleeve but didn’t kill it) but one question always puzzles me: if house spiders die outside, where did they live before houses were invented? I put them on a drystone wall and assume that’s next best to a cave 😁

missmouse101 · 09/08/2019 21:07

I'm more bothered by the awful spelling mistakes on this thread, than the poor spider. How awful to kill it.

NaviSprite · 09/08/2019 21:42

@cunningartificer it’s dependent on climate and what have you. House spiders thrive in environments that are protected from the elements and most have never been exposed to the outdoors in their life cycle.

More on house spiders here (they apparently die rather quickly outside not slowly so misremembered that bit!) www.mnn.com/your-home/at-home/blogs/8-facts-about-misunderstood-house-spider

Topseyt · 09/08/2019 21:57

I don't think it is awful to kill it.

House spiders die apparently if put outside, so the only solution is to clobber them, so that's what I'll do if they don't stay hidden.

I really can't get too het up over spider welfare. I wish there was a better way than spiders of controlling the insect population, which I begrudgingly accept that they do fairly well.

GladAllOver · 09/08/2019 21:58

So you are teaching your child that spiders are nasty things to be frightened of.
Disgusting.

thejudgesaidhewasatitandIagree · 09/08/2019 23:52

Love the idea that people are saving the spiders by putting them outside, where they die, but op is terrible for killing it.

Topseyt · 10/08/2019 07:42

Thejudge, exactly!!

Just clobber the fuckers is what I say.
