To think Daddy Pig gets treated really badly?

Yes, I know. I watch far too much Peppa Pig..

I was talking to DH about this the other day and I think he gets fat shamed a lot. They give him way too much of a hard time- treating him like he’s an idiot. If it were the other way around with Mummy Pig, all hell would break loose.

Anyone agree with me?

Mate. Try going for a walk

chocodrops · 08/08/2019 15:39

No I think you're right OP. I've only watched a few with my nieces (DD thankfully too young yet) but I think he perpetuates the 'clueless dad' stereotype that is not useful or even funny anymore.

Meh. I can’t as the baby is napping! I’m totally aware of how ridiculous this thread title is. But this is Mumsnet AIBU. Grin

A lot of dad characters get treated like idiots in childrens programs which is so infuriating.

iklboo · 08/08/2019 15:42

He is a bit of a Pigmansplainer though. Claiming to be an expert on everything. Grin

NabooThatsWho · 08/08/2019 15:44

OP I agree with you.

‘Daddy has a big tummy’. If that was said to Peppa or Mummy Pig it would be called fat-shaming.

I see through Daddy Pig's strategic incompetence, he deserves everything he get. And I wouldn't Peppa growing up and ending up with a similarly dim witted suitor, like Danny Dog.

Of course the best way to live is as a radical feminist spinster like Ms Rabbit.

MissRabbitNeedsAHoliday · 08/08/2019 15:47

He does, they regularly fat shame him. However he is a bit useless, and Peppa is very cheeky! It's really a terrible program but somehow its like crack cocaine for toddlers and DD is totally obsessed with it, so much so I'm actually considering selling my soul to the devil and taking her to Peppa Pig world 😣

Absolutely. What a woman!

I'm just concerned about Ms Rabbit and her obvious flaunting of the European Working Time Directive.

Daddy pig is a right twit though he deserves all he gets to be honest.

I actually ❤️ Peppa Pig 🐷😳

PivotPivotPivottt · 08/08/2019 15:52

My biggest Peppa Pig gripe is the unnecessary use of an emergency vehicle when Pedro has a cough.

jesuschristwtf · 08/08/2019 15:54

You need to find something else to keep your mind busy. Are you one of those ladies that’s about to tell me Disney books/movies should be banned because it’s always a princess that needs kissing/rescuing too? 🤦🏻‍♀️

ambereeree · 08/08/2019 15:57

The episode where the secret password is daddy pigs big tummy had me feeling sorry for him.

Chickychoccyegg · 08/08/2019 16:02

but daddy pig does have a big tummy? 🐖

PivotPivotPivottt · 08/08/2019 16:02

The episode we are watching just now is the one where Daddy Pig gets stuck on the slide and looks so sad and embarrassedSad. Then Peppa announces his tummy is just like a bouncy castle so George has a good old bounce. Poor daddy Sad.

userabcname · 08/08/2019 16:06

Nah he's cool with it. Daddy Pig is bants.

Honey478 · 08/08/2019 16:16

pivot Yep that episode is brutal!

BlodwynBludd · 08/08/2019 16:21

Daddy pig totally does get a rough time, the episode where they had a picnic and forgot him even giving his cake to the ducks made me feel very sorry for him. Although he is a bit of a mansplainer so I have limited sympathy and his driving in foreign countries leaves a lot to be desired.

MissRabbitNeedsAHoliday · 08/08/2019 16:25

Who has had the joy of the Peppa Pig my first cinema experience, and them totally outstaying their welcome with Kylie Kangaroos family?

George also uses Daddy Pigs tummy as a surf board, so there are some up sides to having a big tummy!

AlbusSeverusMalfoy · 08/08/2019 16:25

But he did try to talk to Mr. Potato who was on tv one time. Peppa pointed it out to him and he didnt realise Mr. Potato couldn't hear or answer him...

Nautiloid · 08/08/2019 16:27

Yeah I see your point, but he's a bit of a twat really.

Marriedwithchildren5 · 08/08/2019 16:28

Ah daddy pig makes his own little comments to mummy pig and he's a bit of a bitch about his brother. He loves his little life. Don't feel sorry for him!

SallyWD · 08/08/2019 16:29

Generally male characters get treated like idiots in comedy shows/sit coms/adverts etc.

Sallyseagull · 08/08/2019 16:31

I also think peppa is quite badly behaved and George is a moany little brat.
