My mil has asked us over for dinner tonight for a dish of stew!! Yuk! I hate stew!

The weather is more like autumn than summer at the moment, so sounds ok to me.

This! It's 18 degrees here today, hardly bikini weather. Bring on the stew!

Wejustdontknow · 08/08/2019 15:07

I am cooking sausage & mash tonight with veg, yorkshire pudding and gravy. I am looking forward to eating it but not the cooking as it is warm here today. I agree they should be saved till autumn but it has been requested by youngest ds who is a fussy eater so I have given in

Procrastination4 · 08/08/2019 15:09

I had beef casserole with new potatoes yesterday-delicious!

bluegirlgreen · 08/08/2019 15:17

We eat stew, curry, and fish and chips etc, in summer......, and salad, and sarnies in winter.

Doesn't matter. It's all just food! Confused

HarrietSchulenberg · 08/08/2019 15:24

TBH, I'd just be glad that someone else was cooking my tea for me. I do like stew, though, but I take your point about it being summer.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 08/08/2019 15:26

I'm actually feeling cold today so I'd be happy with stew.

onyourway · 08/08/2019 15:33

I made soup for lunch, felt a chill in the air.

Cokezeroisyummy · 08/08/2019 15:35

I love stew and have it on for tonight's dinner. DH got very excited when he saw the stew, he loves it even more than I do! And it's gorgeous any time off the year

TonTonMacoute · 08/08/2019 15:37

If you hate stew you hate stew, it's got nothing to do with the weather!

I regularly eat hot food in the summer, unless it's sweltering when I will probably have a salad.

TheFairyCaravan · 08/08/2019 15:45

I'd love someone to bring me over some stew. Tbh I'd just be grateful I didn't have to cook

NoSauce · 08/08/2019 15:47

You said yourself you hate stew! Cock all to do with the weather you numpty Grin

romany4 · 08/08/2019 15:48

Yabu.

I live in Yorkshire. It was 15 degrees and windy when I are my dinner last night.
I've got chicken casserole simmering in my slow cooker for tonight.

LoafofSellotape · 08/08/2019 15:49

We're having stew and dumplings tomorrow.

SpeedyShutter · 08/08/2019 15:53

It's not much different from curry or chilli in that it's some type of meat cooked with some kinds of veg and then seasoned. I love stew. When I was a kid we used to have stew on top of pancakes.

NoSauce · 08/08/2019 15:57

Are you being serious? It it is far too hot to eat stew

Do you only eat salad in summer then? Nothing at all hot??

stucknoue · 08/08/2019 15:59

What a curry if it's not stew? One of my favourite dishes to cook is octopus stew, it's a Portuguese dish and it's hotter there than here. Be grateful someone else is cooking

bluegirlgreen · 08/08/2019 16:00

@NoSauce

Do you only eat salad in summer then? Nothing at all hot?

Exactly this! ^

Daft. Confused

BertrandRussell · 08/08/2019 16:01

Any food made by a mil is disgusting. Mumsnet Law.

In other news, Google Nigella Lawson’s Praised Chicken for a perfect summer stew.

NoSauce · 08/08/2019 16:19

I had a very HOT chilli last night. Absolutely blew our heads off. Everyone loved it.

Ronsters · 08/08/2019 16:21

I like a nice stew, but not on hot days. I'd eat it on a cool summer day though.

Strugglingtodomybest · 08/08/2019 16:23

I love stew, anytime of the year, but dumplings can fuck right off, they're gross.

vodkaredbullgirl · 08/08/2019 16:25

Food is food at the end of the day lol

Nothing wrong with a bit of stew all year round.

ElizaPancakes · 08/08/2019 16:25

I love stew and don’t care really what I eat in what weather. Surely it’s the cooking that’s the pain in the arse because you get hot?

It’s 26 degrees where I am btw. It’s not the same all over the country.

RavenLG · 08/08/2019 16:26

Unless you eat stone cold food every night in the summer, you know you're being unreasonable. You just don't like stew. Or your MIL lol.

NoSauce · 08/08/2019 16:27

Just a hunch but going off the OPs other posts/threads I think she’s something of a wind up Wink
