Vent!
We’ve been in this house 20 years and we’ve stripped out and replaced the whole shower cubicle 4 times in that time as each time it eventually ends up leaking through the kitchen ceiling.
This morning it’s happened again! We have a stone shower tray, fully clad walls (plastic cladding) and the seals appear to be fine.
AIBU to call it a day and put a shower over a bath this time? We’ve spent thousands over the years and it always ends up leaking.
Anyone else find the same or are we using crap materials / trades?

Look at your piping?

I prefer baths so would always put in a bath over a shower anyway.

It can happen with showers over baths, too. At my old house the seal around the top of the bath kept popping and as water from the shower always pooled in that corner, it started dripping through the kitchen ceiling. Didn't matter how many times we re-sealed around the bath. I think it was caused by the bath resting on a wonky floorboard but we moved out before it was properly investigated.

I think the only answer is a downstairs wet room.

No, it is not normal. Something is wrong. What is the plastic cladding? Are you sure it is fit for purpose? Does it go all the way to the top of the wall? It must go all the way up or you get condensations down from the top. I will suggest, that you turn your bathroom into an actual wet room, Ie. Tiles removed. Paint with that funny paint that turn into a layer of rubber when dry. Tiles on the floor again. Try to look into the way they do it in the Scandinavian countries. They know how to.
