to think the Mumsnet 'oops' logo is distasteful?

Given how horribly traumatising (and dangerous) it is to actually drop a baby? It hasn't happened to me, but it's my worst nightmare. This 'funny' logo actually makes me feel a bit yucky in the pit of my stomach.

I just thought to myself this morning "that Mumsnet logo with the baby falling down, did I really see that it was it a sleep-deprivation induced hallucination as I was up feeding last night?" Then I realised I'd seen it when the site was having problems.

to think the Mumsnet 'oops' logo is distasteful?

I think you are massively overreacting.

As an aside though, I remember on a thread ages ago where many posters (including myself) thought the image on this Brew was a cannabis leaf, thinking it meant 'chill/relax and have a cuppa'
We were all informed it was actually the MN logo on the cup.

PotteringAlong · 07/08/2019 14:53

fallensky might be my new mumsnet hero...

oakleaffy · 07/08/2019 14:56

I thought the baby was leaping into his mother's outstretched arms?

SilverySurfer · 07/08/2019 14:56

Seriously? It must be exhausting being you.

lickencivers · 07/08/2019 14:58

Woke award.

PapayaCoconut · 07/08/2019 14:59

I fully accept IABU. But hey it's not like I'm in the DM doing sadface! 😅 I was just wondering if anyone else had thought the same thing.

Also 😂 at @Fallensky !!! Thanks for the laugh.

Yeah, the oops! should have a trigger warning.

Seriously - if you keep expecting to be protected from anything that will upset you a bit, then you will end up being anxious all the time because you will be unable to rely on yourself to be cope and be resilient.

ACPC · 07/08/2019 15:01

ArfGrin Save the pen and ink baby!

ChicCroissant · 07/08/2019 15:02

Great work, FallenSky!

PapayaCoconut · 07/08/2019 15:03

Seriously?
Well, not super seriously, no.

It must be exhausting being you.
It is, to be fair. I'm an emotional wreck for much of the time...

Maybe just don't use the internet? It's full of terrible things. I recommend reading the Daily Mail instead.

Bluntness100 · 07/08/2019 15:07

Honestly op I can't believe you're clutching at your arse cheeks over this. It's mildly amusing at best, fairly dull at worst.

Really there is so many things to worry about in th world. This really isn't one of them.

NKFell · 07/08/2019 15:09

Chill OP, find your chill and stick with it. In all seriously, else you'll wear yourself out.

NKFell · 07/08/2019 15:09

*seriousness not 'seriously'!

HaileySherman · 07/08/2019 15:11

I think you're a bit sensitive. I don't want to be mean, so I think its probably best for you to grow a bit thicker skin. Sometimes being oversensitive only hurts ourselves.

peachgreen · 07/08/2019 15:18

@Belazelle That's not a comma splice, is it? "Damn" isn't an independent clause.

I'd argue that an em-dash would be fine in that second sentence as it's informal writing... but seeing as that's an en-dash, I'm with you on that one.

CatteStreet · 07/08/2019 15:19

Oh come on. OP's not saying she's traumatised, or distressed, or offended, or even upset really, just that she found it a bit yucky and distasteful (as do I, tbh). I wouldn't agree with OP that it's always 'traumatising' to drop a baby, but otherwise I think people have been enjoying an unnecessary, overdone and rather vindictive pile-on. Give OP a break, please.

PapayaCoconut · 07/08/2019 15:20

Really there is so many things to worry about in th world. This really isn't one of them.

True, but if everyone only ever thought about important stuff, AIBU wouldn't exist. And you wouldn't get to ride in here on your high horse telling me to get off my phone and do something about climate change or whatever.

@CatteStreet Thanks! At least it wasn't a unanimous "fuck off to dailyfail.co.uk"... 😅

I just realised I have subconsciously thought the same but never internally verbalised it! Hahaha.

I’m HORRIFIED it’s VILE I’m utterly DISTRAUGHT at this HENOUS act. DEEPLY DEEPLY offended I am.

There, there. That's a bit much.

TwistedStrawberry No need to worry, that's bottle of gin she's holding! Gin Gin Gin

PapayaCoconut · 07/08/2019 15:32

I recommend reading the Daily Mail instead.

Surely this is a form of woke-signalling?

I never noticed it up close like that before. On my Chrome browser I have an icon link to click on for Mumsnet, and it is the same picture only as it is smaller I always think it looks like a bug of some kind with 6 legs.

BettysLeftTentacle · 07/08/2019 15:40

Ur right hun its discusting.
