Where is my flat?

Would anyone else be confused by this, or am I just being thick.

Recently moved to a new flat; old fashioned sandstone building with two flats upstairs and two downstairs.

I am upstairs with Address 6D FloorCushion st. And I think upstairs next door is 6C.

Most of the time I can find my address as above however in some cases it gives the option of UL (for upper left) 6 FloorCushion street or UR (upper right).

I'm not sure which one I'm supposed to pick; if you come upstairs, my door is on the left however if you look at the building from the front, my flat is on the right.

I think I'm "left" but not sure and don't want to bother the landlord with it. Next door seem stand-offish so don't want to ask them or look stupid.

Apologies for the long post over something so silly 🙄

I would go with left or right as you look at the building.

I would do as you look at the door itself from inside the building.

You will only need this if someone is delivering something, so it should be how they find the layout as they come up the stairs.

If you are expecting a delivery, you could put out a card with Name, Upper Left Flat on your door. If your neighbours think they are the left flat they would probably say something.

As it's for deliveries, I'd say it's as you look at it when you come up the stairs.

However why not always use 6c and make sure it's on your door? Or have a sign saying 6c/upper left?

It’s left or right of the top of stairs, you’re left
