Diagnose me

Evening all

There's been something up with me for the better part of a year and I've got nowhere with finding out what the hell it is. I've been brushed off a bit blaming it on low mood/stress, I thought the same but something is definitely going on.

I can't get anywhere medically thus far, so lovely people of mumsnet, any ideas?

Maybe tmi warning? The other morning I woke with a v sore tum, constipation type pain, but sit on the floor breath through it pain. Trying to go to the loo, bearing down increased the pain. Like a pressure feeling? Eventually went to the loo but the pain didn't go and started my, sort of, period a week early. The pressure/pain was in my uterus area too, odd! A few days later and I still have lingering pains in my stomach.

Aside from that incident, for months and months I:

  • often wake with a sore stomach or have one during the day
  • get sharp pain in my lower abdomen
  • sex is almost always painful (about a year)
  • and I'm so bloody tired, unusually knackered

Gyno said no obvious issues with physical exam wouldn't refer me, iron count is fine and stomach put down to stress/IBS.

Surely this is all connected? I'll be going to the docs for latest weird stomachness but I'm interested in any opinions or experience Star

Endo

mawof3soontobe · 06/08/2019 01:12

Endometriosis or Polycystic ovaries

EmeraldShamrock · 06/08/2019 01:29

Endometriosis. Can you get a referral for an ultrasound? Gluten may also be a problem, I have similar like menstrual cramps most of the month, I'm waiting on an ultrasound.
I eat lots of sandwiches, carbs, when I have a low carb day it is fine so I am cutting out bread for now. Sad

SofiaAmes · 06/08/2019 01:39

OMG, gyno didn't send you for an ultrasound? A physical exam is not enough.

When you say "sore stomach," do you actually mean your stomach which is above your tummy, or your abdomen area?

SofiaAmes · 06/08/2019 01:46

Sounds like Pelvic Organ Prolapse symptoms...Description Here
NHS is in the process of updating the Guidelines: Here

Please print them out and bring them to your GP/gyno.

SofiaAmes · 06/08/2019 01:47

P.S. They are totally treatable with non-invasive techniques like PT and exercises.

TheDarkPassenger · 06/08/2019 08:34

Sounds like me and I’ve got a big fuck off cyst on my ovary

TheDarkPassenger · 06/08/2019 08:34

God that sounded awful sorry, I’m no good this morning! Ask for an ultrasound

FaithInfinity · 06/08/2019 08:37

I had similar. Had to push for a gynae referral. Scans had shown nothing, colonoscopy was normal. Eventually saw a gynae consultant who agreed to do a laparoscopy, they found and treated endometriosis and I got better. I was push for a second opinion. You need to be scanned at least.

Thump · 06/08/2019 08:41

Definitely gynae related. You need to be referred for a hysteroscopy. Exaggerate until you're referred.

TheGlitterFairy · 06/08/2019 08:50

Sounds like endometriosis- push for a gynae referral and scan. Btw - an MRI can diagnose endo now - not just surgery. Normal ultrasound won’t diagnose but would be a good start to check for cysts etc. Good luck!

madcatladyforever · 06/08/2019 08:53

Gallstones. The pain can radiate to other areas and is so acute I once had to lie on the floor in public.

Trickyteens · 06/08/2019 09:01

Nobody can diagnose you. Go to a doctor if you are worried.

Loulz · 06/08/2019 10:13

EmeraldShamrock I was worried about diet so I completely cleaned it up but no change for the past couple of months unfortunately. I hope it comes back fine and it's just a food intolerance! It's awful not knowing what's wrong Flowers

SofiaAmes I get sharp pains in my lower abdomen, just above public area. But also morning pains just my abdomen in general around and below belly button which feel like trapped wind, like IBS symptoms, that's what the Dr put that down to. That doesn't sound good! But I've read the info and I'll explore that too thankyou very much, it's helpful having an input. I know no one can diagnose it but other ideas give me something to go on.

TheDarkPassenger Pretty much me every morning 😂 Sounds really shit, will it be removed?

A lot of endometriosis suggestions, I've been thinking the same, I'll push for it to be taken further. Does an ultrasound show it? I had one in August last year and all looked fine, I wonder how quickly cycts or endo can progress in a year.

I've just moved so registering and getting appointment with new doctors today, maybe they'll be better than the last!

Thanks everyone, although now I'm bricking it. I'm 24, pre kids, the thought of anything affecting fertility is terrifying

A few months ago I thought I had pelvic organ prolapse. I was terrified and it was awful.

Embarrassingly, when I went to the gynaecologist and had an ultrasound it turned out I had bad constipation combined with a yeast infection Blush I also have varicosities in my vagina (wtaf) which are basically vag piles. Lovely. I’m fine now.

My symptoms were not painful like yours - I’m only posting to say that it could be a combination of things, and IBS can certainly impact the pelvic area as well.

Patchworksack · 06/08/2019 11:57

It's so depressing that women with gynae problems are fobbed off all the time. A dear friend died of ovarian cancer because the doctor had been dismissing her complaints for years and by the time it was discovered it was far too late. I'm not saying you have cancer, OP, but your symptoms deserve to be properly investigated and treated.

NoSauce · 06/08/2019 12:00

Ovulation pain?

Loulz · 06/08/2019 15:39

It could be anything couldn't it, it's just getting them to actually test for everything. My stomach is still sore in a specific area, where my left ovarie would be. I have an appointment on Friday but I think I'll call to try and get in tomorrow morning, it's still sharp after a few days so should be seen sooner I think.

Yeah its crap being fobbed off! I feel daft for even going and demanding their attention and insisting something is wrong. You shouldnt have to push for referrals so much
