Went to the engagement of a lesbian friend recently. Her gf’s parents totally and utterly ignore their daughter’s lifestyle and her gf ( my friend ) at every opportunity. They do it consciously and know it causes hurt and upset all round. They expect respect for their own family life. Out of base loyalty, my friend’s gf wants them to come to the wedding. My friend is wary. Is this homophobic behaviour ever forgiveable and should my friend expect her gf to step up more ? I know my views and have made them plain, but promised to do a straw poll and revert. How would you deal with this homophobia ? Serious question
