Sertraline and melatonin

Sorry for posting here but looking of a quick answer if possible.

I'm prescribed sertraline for anxiety and depression. I've been struggling to sleep for a few months now, had all blood tests done to rule any thing out and everything came back fine.

I decided to give melatonin a try to help with sleep after trying sleepeaze tablets from boots (which weren't much use as they made me feel worse the next day)

I spoke to my gp to make sure these (melatonin) would be safe to take due to the sertraline. He said they would be fine.

Trouble is on the back if the bottle it says not to take if you have "a depressive disorder" and looking online I've found conflicting views.

Obviously I don't want to take anything that could make me feel worse but I was really hopeful these could help me sleep better.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I’ve done it and it was fine. If your GP says it’s ok then it is.
Hope you get some sleep!

We have been suggested these by our doctors too - they don't interact.
